Should I apply for a DTV visa myself or through an agency while transitioning from an ED visa in Thailand?

Can anyone advise whether to use agency or by myself? I have ED visa staying in Thailand and thought to apply for DTV visa for digital nomad. I'm not sure what document I need and when I apply for it, should cancel ED visa? Is that going to be risky if I dont DTV visa?

Can you guys also recommend easy embassy that will approve DTV visa easily?

I'm thinking of applying through embassy in Vietnam? Could anyone advise step by step?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around transitioning from an ED visa to a DTV visa in Thailand. The original poster is considering whether to use an agency or apply independently. Comments suggest that while some recommend using an agency for convenience, many have successfully navigated the application process themselves, advising on document requirements and procedural steps. It's mentioned that it's possible to keep the ED visa until the DTV visa is obtained by getting the necessary letters from the school. Community members also warn about the high costs associated with some agencies.

Depending on your nationality I guess. It's hard if you hold Chinese passport as they recently cancelled thousands of fraudulent Ed visas mostly Chinese

You can do it yourself no need for agents. I have a DTV bundle that has everything you need in it as well as tutorial that will walk you through the whole process ✨️ it also Here’s exactly what you’ll get:

Employment Verification Letter: Proof of your current employment.

Employment Contract: Professionally formatted for visa requirements.

Cover Letter: A strong introduction to support your application.

Forms Included:

TM47/TM30: Registration forms for staying in Thailand.

TM87: Application for new visa issuance.

TM7: Visa extension request form.

TM86: Change of visa status.

TM9: Re-entry permit request, and more. It's up to you if you want. Just a suggestion.

Are you now on the Ed Visa extension of stay?

Are you attending classes? IF you are...no problem.

Suggest you read this...

The Immigration Bureau has cancelled nearly 10,000 stay permits after uncovering that many foreigners obtained student visas without attending classes.

Authorities say anyone failing to meet study requirements will have their visa revoked immediately. The move follows ongoing investigations into officials accused of facilitating fraudulent visas for foreigners linked to grey businesses.

Exactly - I think many are around 400 USD for document check and submission. Course and 10k visa fee on top. I think that is a reasonable cost if someone does want to use an agent or their own reasons

Couldn't agree more. Many agents are actually way below $400, and they still guarantee you success in getting your DTV. Some people will just do all they can to spread false rumors here.

@Nick *****
here you go Nick $4,000 by this agency

Participant anonyme 748 These are just scammers, and they can be found everywhere. Who would even consider using their services at these exhorbitant prices? 99% of (legit) agents charge much, much less than that.

I had an ED visa and applied by myself. You don't need an agent. Before beginning the application I asked my school to advise on the best steps to get a DTV Visa before canceling my Ed visa and they let me know that I could actually go to another country and get the DTV visa and not cancel my ED Visa until afterwards. So I recommend you do that. You don't actually have to cancel it until you have gotten the new visa and then you can come back to Thailand and do it. But first you have to get a letter from the school saying that you want to cancel your ED visa and then after the week it takes to get the letter, you can take that letter to immigration.

If you can afford it, go with a good agency.
