TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus among commenters is that trading stocks or cryptocurrencies while on a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand is permissible as long as the trading is done remotely and not on local platforms. It is advisable to keep such activities private and to avoid discussing them with immigration officials. The critical factor is that income should be generated from outside Thailand. However, it's important for expats to be aware of the visa's working restrictions, as traditional employment within Thailand would not be allowed.
It would be more helpful if such discussions would shift from 'what do do you do' to 'how do you do it'
In the end it doesn't matter if you do crypto trading or youtube. What they want to check is your financial stability, legal status and supporting documents
As long as you are not doing any trading locally, and everything is remote, you are fine as far as your DTV goes. If you trade from local platforms inside Thailand, then you need a different visa, even though profits are tax exempt for five years, until 2029.
No problem to do any of what you mention, but not sure it will qualify for a DTV. If you're already on a DTV and do stock or crypto trading, so issue. I'd suggest you don't blabber on about it though, but I see no issue with doing it in the privacy of your own home or even a hotel room.
maybe try a dedicated ip adress, it knows its a vpn because ip adress gets flagged if multiple people are using the same ip adress, the work arround could be a dedicated ip adress
DTV_Begpacker and ? Mind your own business. If he wants advice about his business itās his problem not yours. And for sure an anon post with only a general view about his activity gonna jeopardize his business.
Realise why only non Asian asking these questions? Because all Asians know what no working means. It's Asian culture to work during holiday. Meaning reply emails, answer calls, drafting a proposal. In Asian culture there is no such thing clock off at 5 bye bye work. No working means no working for any business in the country you are traveling to. Meaning you cannot be a waiter for a local company. you cannot go work at an office everyday 8 to 5 at a local company. If you want to come to Asia understand Asia culture first.
not true actually. Working with companies in Germany and US. All these 30 years of working, have to wait a whole weekend for a reply from head office and suppliers. Conference call in the middle of the night just because they don't work after hours. Rushing to send in invoice by a certain time before end of office.
Anonymous participant 494 With Germany, yes, USA depends...often they do work weekends or are expected to answer calls and emails after hours (not necessarily at ridiculously late hours but what I mean is, say 7pm on a Friday evening or 12pm on a Saturday when you're not at the office).
Anonymous participant 494 I am sure there are companies in Asia that are the same. I have worked in UK and across Europe for many years - your experience is different to mine. You just make a sweeping generalisation which makes no sense
I don't think they except it, i than i can do easy i Trading thirty years. If you only need a visa for you can trade online... Forget it nobody interest in that but i think you need the visa for different case
