TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the possibility of obtaining a visa for studying Thai massage in Thailand. Various opinions clarify that the Wat Pho Thai massage course does not require a visa since it can be completed in about one month. However, others suggest that certain schools offer assistance in obtaining an Education visa for longer courses or programs. It is noted that certifications must comply with regulations set by the Ministry of Public Health, which may restrict foreigners from massage work. Additionally, the Soft Power DTV visa is mentioned as a potential option for studying, allowing stays of up to 180 days with extensions.

As long as you get the ending, right, I don’t think it matters

I’ll be curious what people suggest. ‘Real’ Thai massage in Thailand’s eyes is certified by The Ministry of Public Health. I don’t believe this is open to foreigners.

The curriculum I’ve seen is a pretty intensive lock in 30 day stay. Open dorm, no air conditioning and directly tied to Buddhism as part of the process.

Yes you can! Most massage schools can help you

I think you can apply for the Soft Power DTV and take your courses and stay for 180 and extend for 180 with still utilizing the 5 year aspect of the Visa with multiple entry. It covers taking courses. I’m thinking about cooking classes if I can’t get this remote work together 🙄

you should be able to apply for an Education visa to learn Thai massage. the school you are learning at should be able to provide some guidance

The intensive Wat Pho Thai massage course which is the reference takes ~200 hours, but it's done within a month. No need for a visa.

restricted for foreigners to do massage work, so I very much doubt there’s a visa to support it.

It’s not illegal for a foreigner to learn Thai massage an Thailand - and go back and work massage in his home country!

can you let me know where I say it was illegal for a foreigner to learn Thai massage? My original comment clearly says it’s restricted for foreigners to do massage work & to put it simply, you cannot get a visa for learning Thai massage. Simple as that.

yes there may well be a massage center that offers the service, however this isn’t going to be any use in the support of a DTV or ed visa application.
