I have heard that there is a limit to two border runs per calendar year when using Tourist visas and/or stamps on arrival, but I cannot get it officially confirmed anywhere. Does anybody know what is true for this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, there is a limit to two border runs per calendar year for those entering Thailand using Visa Exempt Entry at land or sea borders, though this does not apply to tourist visas or arrivals by air. Thai Immigration Officers have the discretion to approve or deny entry, especially if there is a history of frequent visits.

You have the correct answer.

It's the full discretion of the Thai Immigration Officer who greets you on arrival into Thailand to approve or deny you entry.

IF you have a recent history of entering and or staying in Thailand, then be prepared to be questioned WHY do you come to Thailand many times or stay long time?

Get the correct Thai Visa for your planned visits and living in Thailand

Yes, that is the plan to get myself the right visa!

Be VERY careful when planning on your travels to Thailand.

Suggest you look at getting the METV multiple entry tourist visa in your home country... With planning it can get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand with a couple simple land BORDER BOUNCE.

There is a limit of 2 times a calendar year visiting Thailand by land or sea borders using the Visa Exempt Entry, NOT with tourist visa, NOT with any other VISA and NOT when coming in by air.

!

I’m unsure still though as my situation is a little murky (to me at least). If you or anyone else can give clarity on this I’d be very appreciative.

I arrived late 2022 via flight with 45 day stamp on arrival, got a 30 day extension on that.

In 2023 - as of now I am on a Tourist visa (I had one previously approved but not in time for my arrival in 2022), which I used recently in a Malaysia land border run. I intend to do a 30 day extension on this.

From what I can gather, I should be able to do a second border run for this year after that?

Hopefully I will sort out a more permanent visa by that point anyway, but just planning for worst case scenarios.
