Trying to learn the gold market in Thailand. Is the weight of a gold bar, ทองคำแท่ง, “baht” weight or an ounce, in the attached picture?

Also, anyone using a good Thai gold app? I have downloaded two and neither seems too good.

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, gold bars are measured in baht, where 1 baht equals approximately 15.24 grams or 0.4901 troy ounces. Conversations highlight the importance of knowing the fees associated with buying and selling gold, which vary by shop. Additionally, several users recommend a website that provides daily gold pricing in Thailand, although concerns were raised about the performance of available Thai gold apps.

It is sold by baht (weight).

1 baht of gold = 15.244 grams = 0.4901 troy ounces.

Based on baht weight . Gold bars as shown has a spread of 100 baht between buy and sell. Jewelry has the larger spread.

Thank you. You seem to be the only person who understood the question. International spot and ทองคำแท่ง on the same page are a little confusing. It’s sort of like the picture frame I was looking at last week. The height was in inches and the width was in centimeters.

they show the spot price and USD rate because that's the currency gold is traded in on the international market. The Thai price is directly related to the USD exchange rate of the moment.

You should also know that when buying and selling there is fee, typically 100 baht per baht weight on bars, some shops may lower if you buy bulk, some shops may be higher, ask their fee first. Same goes for jewelry but the fees are higher depending on the shop and craftsmanship of the jewelry, typically 1500-1800 baht per baht weight. It goes without saying that jewellery is not a good investment buy.

Baht is the unit of weight commonly used in Thailand for gold.

All prices you see advertised for gold in Thailand will be per 1 baht in weight.

Thailand never really prices gold in ounces.

I think one is buy one is sell price, usually not a lot in them it's small premium. 52k baht will be for a 1 baht bar or coin. Sorry I don't read thai but that's mh guess on above pic

This is the website that sets gold prices in Thailand. Prices are set daily at approximately 9am and follow the market fluctuations. Price is set only once Saturday morning and that price is maintained until Monday morning.
