Question for anyone in the know. My friend is flying to Thailand tomorrow. She got a pre departure PCR test. Is this ok or does it need to be a RT PCR test? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is some confusion regarding the type of PCR test required for travel to Thailand. While some sources, including a travel agent and the airline Qatar, indicated that a general PCR test is acceptable, the consensus among commenters is that the certificate must explicitly state 'RT-PCR' to comply with the requirements set by the Thailand embassy.

I must say that it's probably the same but must say RT-PCR.

Ok. Thanks. Much confusion as when we called the airline (Qatar) they said PCR is acceptable as did her travel agent based in Thailand.

She’s probably had an RT-PCR test but as Stuart says the lab report must state that
