The conversation explores the possibilities and challenges of returning to Thailand next year for expats working on a 3-month on, 3-month off rotation. The majority of comments express uncertainty due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the necessity of the proper visa documentation, and quarantine requirements. Some believe it may be viable in mid to late 2021 with a potential return to normalcy, while others are skeptical about the ease of entry given the current health crisis.

Of course. Just book your flight and everything will be fine ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
J Gould once said, "I can pay half the population to kill the other half" My guess is that's the plan. But it'd be more difficult if everyone was armed. I like this quote, "Strong men lead to good times. Good times lead to weak men. Weak men lead to hard times."
Take a country like um what was it? Sweeden? Switzerland? Every man had a gun and serves in the military? Government stays legitimate. No chance of tyrrany. Smart.
Really? See? You think your government would pull that if every Austrailian was armed with high powered assault riffles? Now you understand the American NRA mindset? You shouldn't have handed in your guns. Tyrrany was just a matter of time.
Yes , maybe . Depends if all the medium rich in Thailand are bought out by the generals or not .

Who knows? I went to work for 28 days in Feb and I just managed to get back now 1 week quarantine still to go. At the moment it's a no go, hope it changes so I can go to work and actually get home again.

Yes I think so or Philippines, also nice

should be ok by next year with elite visa or special tourist visa (and quarantine on the way in each time)

Vaccine ready around April at the very earliest. 6 months to process everyone then who knows how long and what Thailand will accept for entry without quarantine. I would say October at the earliest. All a guess though๐ค๐ค
...I think the pressure on the Goverment will increase as we get into the High season....not many hospitality businesses can survive (6.5 million officially employed) a full season of no tourists.
The idea of boosting internal domestic tourism hasn't even kept the biggest percentage of businesses open...something has to break soon.๐ค
Next year is only 5 months away. Again unfortunately I donโt think thatโs something that is a priority for the Thai government atm, however much you or I might like it to be. Iโm in Thailand and TBH outside the tourist places things are remarkably normal. Many workers have also gone back to their home villages.
they are unemployed but that's what many of them had to do in low season anyway. I know you all want to come back and want to think the Thai government is going to start granting 'normal' tourist visas soon - it's not. Whether you like it or not, it's committed to a high level of testing and quarantine (and I'm sure there's a lot of money going to those hotels that benefit the government). It gets a lot of kudos from UN/ASEAN for the way it has handled the pandemic (and don't get me wrong, the measures they've put in place are impressive), and it likes that. Sure message me when/if you manage to get in and tell me I'm wrong, I'd be really happy if that was the case.
I'm not desperate to get into Thailand. None of this is the end of the world. I just think it will reopen imminently for the reasons stated above. And my opinion was what the op sought so...

Itโs all unknown.
I have a nonimmigrant O visa based on Thai family in Thailand . Iโve lived in Thailand for years. My wife has a few homes. Sheโs a middle class Thai who earned an MBA in the states. Her family is general officer military. Money is not an issue. I formerly owned manufacturing facilities in Thailand. I still canโt get back !

Sounds like you expect to given an advantage over normal people all trying to get back ..some of my friends have paid for quarantine, gone thru embassies prior to get the COE etc , and gone back ...surely with all your money and contacts it shouldn't be an issue
Iโm a normal person whoโs been established in the Kingdom for years. Not a tourist.Iโm not expecting an advantage . Iโd just love to have the opportunity to pay for quarantine.
you have a thai wife , and extended family there , that is all the opportunity you need to go back to thailand ....surely you know that ....go to your nearest consulate , they will tell you what you need ...

Nobody knows mate. It's all guesswork and assumptions. Keep the faith and let's hope things are under control sooner rather than later. There's millions who want to enter Thailand and as we all know over here, money talks.

It's obv all opinions but I guess that's what you're asking for right? I'd say no, not for short-term tourist travel. It seems like COVID is spiking up again in many countries and that's not going to get better in 'winter' for many of them. The Thai government is being v cautious. I think Elite purchasers will be the next allowed in (it's already happening very slowly) so if that's an option for you given your circumstances, I'd say go for it.
: if there is an outbreak of 20 people in the Kingdom today, outside of the Quarentine centres, my guess is the borders will slam shut by midnite tomorrow. We only got 2 days warning the last time the borders closed completely. But at that time the quarentine protocal was not avalible.

Good luck getting a visa, 1200 a month and only private or chartered flights..

Yes, if you have the correct visa, COE, , $100, 000 USD covid insurance and every other requirement, and do 15 nights prepaid quarantine in an approved ASQ hotel.
