Is reporting and paperwork necessary for the Thai Marriage visa at Provincial Immigration offices?

I just had a pleasant surprise. 3 months after my first ‘Thai Marriage’ visa, converted from a non-OA, I went to the Chonburi Immigration building, Soi 5, Jomtien. Boy, was I ready! Bank letter plus 3 month reports, signed photocopied bank book and important passport pages. Phone number with each signature.

The officer (or assistant) sitting at the side of desk 8 smiled, and told me because of the ‘Marriage to a Thai’ visa, this reporting isn’t necessary; and no two month visit before renewal date either.

Is this standard at all Provincial Immigration offices?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares a positive experience at the Chonburi Immigration office regarding their Thai Marriage visa, noting that reporting obligations and specific paperwork were not required, which leads to a question on whether this is standard practice across all Provincial Immigration offices in Thailand.

I did not go for my 90 day reporting. Will try again on-line in 1 week. As Tod Daniels inferred I could have saved a trip to the bank, photocopy shop, lotsa signing, and trip to Jomtien. Wires crossed.

I did not need insurance to extend based on marriage.

Sounds like you went for your 90 day reporting but took all the paperwork for visa extension

Question- did you need insurance to get or previously extend your non-OA and did you still need insurance to extend based on marriage?
Tod *********
@Marty ********
you do not need to have insurance going from an O-A extension based on retirement to one based on marriage <- that and it's only half the funds and only banked for 2 months is the reason people switch from the retirement extensions linked to O-A visas

You had your wires crossed :O

You mixed up the requirements for a yearly extension of stay based on retirement using banked money (which does require you to keep the 800K baht in the bank for 3 months after the extension is granted)

AND

the requirements for a yearly extension of stay based on marriage to a thai using banked money which doesn't require you to keep the 400K baht in the bank after you get your extension granted.

- May I ask, for Chiang Mai immigration, do I need a bank statement when I return for the 30 day ‘under consideration’ period? Thank you. (Extension of stay due to marriage to Thai.)

@Brendan ******
, I believe that C/M does not require you bring the bank statement showing you still have the 400K baht in the account when you go back after the under consideration period, BUT if they do they'll tell you for sure.

Post on a C/M f/b group and ask, someone will answer for sure

Just so you know that next year when you apply for your marriage extension you WILL need to have the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply.

That is the only requirement for marriage extensions as far as seasoning of banked money method

Some offices want you to leave the money in the bank for the 30 day 'under consideration' period the marriage extension goes under. BUT Jomtien does not require this.
