Can I successfully re-enter Thailand on a non-immigrant ED visa with a re-entry permit?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Hey all,

I have read through several posts, both from users and mods about not exiting, even with re-entry permit on an non immigrant ED visa (for studying Thai language or those types of courses) due to several people being denied entry via DMK/Suvarnabhumi or any entry through air.

Most of these posts were from the Covid days or 2023 and older ([members only]/)

Are there any recent reports (last few months/weeks) of anyone who has non immigrant ED visa -extended several times, has re-entry permit stamped, and getting back into Thailand through land border successfully?

I simply want to see if there are any new updates regarding this.

Thank you in advance ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about recent experiences of non-immigrant ED visa holders with re-entry permits successfully entering Thailand, particularly across land borders. Community members echoed caution, advising against leaving Thailand while holding an ED visa due to reported difficulties upon re-entry. They highlighted that even students with valid enrollment letters faced entry denials, especially in stricter locations like Bangkok. Sharing various experiences, participants suggested that while some had successful returns with proper documentation, the unpredictability of immigration policies remains significant.

There's just no way to tell IF you'll get back in okay or not.

People enrolled in real schools, (where they went 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, a month at a time) had letters from their school saying they could be gone, had photos of them in class, and a contact of the school admin in case of issues YET, they were denied entry ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ™

It's a total crap shoot. It'll either work or it won't and there's not a single person on this or any other group that can guarantee whether you will get in or not

Last year I was on a Thai language course ED visa and left the country for a week with a re-entry permit. My school gave me a letter confirming my enrollment details and a copy of the school's business licence, etc. I was told to keep these documents with me in case I was questioned by immigration. I was never asked anything by immigration when I returned, probably because I flew directly to Chiang Mai which was less strict than Bangkok at the time. My school told me most of the students that ran into problems with re-entry happened in Bangkok.

It's best to avoid leaving the country but if you really need to do it then try to make your trip as short as possible and talk to your school about the possible risks and how to best proceed. You may want to hire one of those agents offering fast track entry if you are worried about the risk.

Our advice is NOT leave Thailand when you have a valid Ed Visa or its extension of stay in your passport.

Good Luck ๐Ÿ€ if you try by land, sea or Air...

Be prepared for questions and possible DENIED entry.

There's a crackdown on those who have the Ed Visa in their passport. Due to the fraud and misuse of the Ed Visa.

When you have the Ed Visa, you are expected to be attending the classes, passing tests throughout the course of study.
