Is it safe to cross the land borders between Laos and Thailand with a 60-day TR visa? I have always used airports to enter Thailand until now (note: I stayed in Thailand for 35 days in April/May 2026).
Answer summary
Crossing the land borders between Laos and Thailand with a 60-day TR visa is generally safe, as indicated by commenters who shared their experiences. However, it is crucial to note that even with a valid visa, entry is not guaranteed and may depend on the discretion of the immigration officer (IO) and the travel history of the individual. As long as the 35 days spent in Thailand previously is the only stay within the past 12 months, there shouldn't be significant issues at the border.

If that's your only history in the last 12 to 18 months you shouldn't have a problem
James Smith a tourist visa does not grant an entry for sure. A visa does not wipe clean any previous entry history. If the Immigration officer decides the visa holder has misused touristic entries for a longstay in Thailand, he can deny entry even on a valid visa. If the 35 days are his only stays within the recent 12-months period, he has nothing to fear, though
Greg Alexander the tourist visa would not have been issued if he was doing multiple entries. The only time the IO would refuse is on visa exempt. This is real world experience over 27 years. I am now old enough for a non O so it's now easier for myself.
Bob D'Andrea oh shut up pal. He has already been issued with a tourist visa. He is not going through the border on visa exemption. I have done it more times than I can remember.
James Smith: The original poster may have a tourist visa but that does not mean that he will be granted entry. A visa only allows a person to request entry, it does not mean that a person will be granted entry.
