Hi i rented a condo in BKK. The owner would like to have a slip every month for the rent transfer. Is that usual? Because every transfer has a reference and name field. Wondering for what they need the slips for?

I always send rent and electricity slipt to the landlord every month.. ever happened landlord asked me to pay an electricity that i have already paid.. split payement is the only proof of payement here in Thailand

Had a fight with my first landlord about this as I thought it was nonsense too. But yes it’s how it works here. Apparently they don’t see it, can’t see it, or cannot make sense of incoming transfers. So the slip rules, the slip is the confirmation 🤷🏻♂️
Your duty is to pay the bill; the custom is to show the slip. They don’t have the ‘right’ to demand the slip as such but it makes things a lot easier for them. Because apparently in the banking system here the receiver has to jump through all kinds of hoops to distinguish payments. Then they can’t find it perhaps, ask you for evidence that you paid, and then.. you show the slip! So it’s just easier to show when they request it in the first place.
It's a different country, so they have different customs, and you're supposed to show your intelligence by understanding that right away, without insisting on doing it like back home in a country that is not, especially when it doesn't cost you a pain.
It's called being an expat, adapting and integrating to your new country.

Eri Lee Koike i think its pretty useless because name and reference make clear who payed. I use automatic payment via Wise but now i must find and send this slip for every payment...
the banking system in Thailand is not like the west. Very few banks actually show you a name and reference of a transfer, just the transfer code. Every place I've rented asks for either an upload to an app of the slip or it to be sent via line. Many places if paying through scan will also take a picture of that slip too.
if you're sending your payments via wise then there won't be a slip. It'll be a confirmation. But your landlord may not understand that since it's not a bank slip like they are expecting. It looks like this with a QR code that can be scanned to confirm it's legit.
I've never been asked but send it every month anyway. Nobody can argue then.

Yup. And also good idea to send slip when you pay electric and water, as well as internet if that was arranged by landlord. Just send them on Line.

Yes. 100% normal for every bill you'll ever make in Thailand. Transfer via bank app then send the slip.
On their end they only see incoming money and not who it's from or details so the slip gives them all that information plus it's much easier for record keeping. You should also save all the slips for your own record of paying rent.
That’s correct. I am a landlord with some of my condos are rented at the same rate. Receiving the slips is the only way for me to identify the unit the payment received was for which allows me to send the payment reminder to the right tenant.
ok ok. The have super fast transfers, mobile banking but need than a slip to recognize who has payed. A simple reference field could fix the problem too...🙃👍

. Good to know, I've only ever had Kbank. Bangkok and Kbank seem to be the most user friendly and foreigner friendly banks in Thailand from what i hear.
. Once you have the account , you'll need to go into a branch to activate online banking. Go in there with your bankbook, passport and phone and they will(should) do it all for you. Go to a large branch though, eg area office or branch in major Shopping complex, some small branches like to play ignorant and say they can't because they don't know how to..
