I submitted my dtv application on Nov 3rd to Thai NY consulate. I am a resident of FL, but just recently moved and staying with family in NYC where I’m originally from. Received a document request message yesterday “Prove of your current resident in our consular jurisdiction (NY,NJ,NH,ME,MA,OH,PA,RI,VT) ,e.g. Electric bill, Gas bill, State ID, Driver's license, Lease Agreement, US bank statement”

Is there an issue with my selection of Thai NY consulate instead of Washington consulate if I’m a FL resident? I submitted proof of current location using my sister’s address and included her apartment lease agreement, NY ID card, and utility bill and she signed letter stating I am staying at her residence until Jan 2026.

Appreciate any advice familiar with this response from Thai NY consulate

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user submitted a DTV visa application to the Thai consulate in New York while residing in Florida but currently staying with family in NYC. They received a request for proof of current residency within the consular jurisdiction. They are concerned about the selection of the NY consulate and the validity of their documentation supporting their current living arrangements.

People go to other countries to apply and just show hotel reservations.

Just write a cover letter stating that you're staying with your siblings/parents and add a photo to show that you're there now physically. It shouldnt be an issue.

I would suggest taking a photo of yourself with today’s newspaper (date visible) somewhere that clearly shows you are in New York.
