I tap into my account every day. I top it off at about ฿900k as a good buffer to not go below the threshold, but otherwise I use it for paying rent, going to restaurants, shopping, and all sorts of daily necessities via my bank app. Works great. No need to maintain another account or use credit cards or carry cash all the time.

The downside of what you're doing is that immigration has to sift through every page in your Bank book and that you have to sign the copy of every page.

I find it far easier just to leave my Immigration Deposit in one Bank, only having to sign one statement, AND have another account for daily expenditure which is of no interest to immigration. Far less hassle. IMHO.

I almost never touch mine. I add or deduct 50 baht on the day I go to immigration then update my passbook. Give them this together with the recent full year bank statement and letter from the bank. I believe not using the account is safer then I don’t make the mistake of falling below the limits set for the year. It’s too easy to drop below especially when your entering 😀

it depends on the immigration office.

. Must meet ONE of the following:

A security deposit of 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account held for at least 2 months before applying for the visa (and 3 months after) balance can never go below 400K all year.

A monthly income of at least 65,000 THB but the first year you are required to do the 800K route, I am pretty sure this is correct.

Absolutely no reason I am aware of that you would need to touch it. Just did my second extension and have never touched my 800k. No problems

I'd totally ignore who ever advised you that nonsense :P

There's no rule that says you can't have a static account (where the balance doesn't change year to year)

Some immigration offices will tell people to use the account a bit to have transactions show up on the year detail report but there is NOTHING that states that in the rules.

As long as you follow the seasoning for banked money method on retirement of 800k in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension, keeping the 800K in the account for 3 months after the extension is granted and then never letting the balance go below 400K the rest of the year, you're fine..

You wanna let the money sit, let it sit..
