Word of warning I was the executer of a thai/English will of a good friend who made his home in Thailand I’m sure that your all aware that the 800k cannot be in a joint account meaning when that person passes to the next world that money should go to his estate . When I presented all the documents to his Thai bank they were not interested in releasing the monies unless a written document was issued by the courts a long and very frustrating journey you have to get a lawyer who then goes to court to request the document required that alone is good enough reason to consider using professional agents and avoid having large sums in your thai bank !

If you have no money how are you going to live in Thailand?

@Nev *******
you ever wonder that some people don't want to put the enormous amount of money in a bank that is likely corrupt or pays no interest when there are other options. You are brilliant to keep money in a bank that does nothing and I hope your acct gets frozen. Dickweed

@Matthew ********
Thai banks are not corrupt, and 800,000 isn’t that much. WTF dude, have your coffee.
Matthew *********
@Greg ********
you think thai banks freezing thousands of accts to act like immigration officer isn't corrupt. You live in a bubble. Many people have been finically affected by this corrupt action. Violates international standards to freeze for immigration policy which they don't even align on deposit time frame. That's is corruption. Why did the Bot have to step in?
Greg *********
@Matthew ********
It’s not the banks doing it. It’s that stupid OECD and WEF influencing Thailand’s polices. The government should tell them to go pound sand. Thailand needs to stay a sovereign nation and not bow to globalism.

@Greg ********
the banks need to remember they work for their clients and stop acting like agents for immigration. Yeah it's mainly one bank but others have stated problems growth other. They don't live up to international standards. BOT keep making statements to fix the bank problem with emergency hot lines. My thai wife had her acct frozen as well so it's not just farangs and people should be worried that the Bot said banks were having issue paying interest on bonds due to thai high debt. Bottom line thial banks are substandard.

800,000 is not an enormous amount. please calm down

@Jo *********
Precisely, 800k is not enormous. Apparently people who think that have very poor finances.
Matthew *********
@Bill ********
i put my portfolio up against yours any day of the week. I didn't get my money by being stupid and depositing large sums and receiving nothing. I will take my gurantee 5 percent in american bank any day of the week. Youbdont build wealth on almost zero percent like thai bank. My interest alone pays my agent fee easily.
Bill *********
@Matthew ********
You don't build wealth at 5%! I do far better than that. And there you go again... 800k is NOT "large sums" and "enormous". So go preach finance to someone who cares what you say because I sure don't.
Matthew *********
@Bill ********
your a fucking idiot with a ladyboy dick up your ass. I compare my wealth against you any day of the week. I am been retired since my 40s and you look like your about 80. You probably on a small retirement pension at best.
Matthew *********
@Jo *********
it's the principle. How much did you make off interest of money sitting there. I can tell I get 5 percent and my acct will never be frozen. Its small money to me but its the principle. But when has thailand ever done anything logical.

0 for married . So it's less for 2 people. I could go on and on.

Probably best to consider going to a nearby country and apply for a Non O retirement visa with your bank back home.
