Is applying for a DTV visa on my own a good idea if I don't have a fixed itinerary in Thailand?

I am considering applying for a DTV on my own, without an agent. Good idea or bad? I enjoy and tend to float around in Thailand, without a planned itinerary, however, the application asks for specifics on how long I will be stay and where and when; including check in and check out dates.

I would never break the rules….its just not how I operate in life, but I honestly don’t know where I will go beyond the 1st week in Thailand. Do I need to plan ahead on lodging, location and such?

How do I answer those questions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is contemplating applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) independently in Thailand but is uncertain about providing specific details required in the application due to their lack of a fixed itinerary. Comments suggest that while many apply without an agent successfully, there are concerns that the DTV may not be suitable for individuals who prefer spontaneous travel, as this could contribute to potential misuse of the visa type.

do not try to get the DTV as it is not meant for you. Good for you to be a free spirit but because of this kind of misuse the DTV may soon be discontinued

and for genuine ppl that want to study thai or mauy thai etc but most I hope don't use it to travel around and work remotely. He's admitted he's abusing the visa. Some ppl haven't got the money to travel around or work remotely just do as the visa says but the more blatant misuse and advertis it on face book the harder it will be for others .just get the proper visa if you can afford it .the rules are harsh but it's their country we do as they say don't treat it like your own .we see enough abuse of our systems pay your way

Where is the abuse he is admitting to? He is going to travel around Thailand while working remotely. The DTV is for remote workers, he is a remote worker who will work in different locations in Thailand. The DTV is made for such workers. The abuse is from those joining the SP DTV, not attending courses and working other jobs in Thailand etc.

I’m a pretty smart guy, I get to travel the world and work remotely if I so choose. It sounds like this visa is of specifically for somebody like me. Not that I’d be adverse to learning the Thai language or studying Muay Thai however that’s not my plan. I don’t understand where the misuse is here and why everyone is so upset by my statement. I’d be contributing to the economy greatly, I mean, I’m the guy they want because I’m not a troublemaker and I’m not there for ill purposes.

I mean, I could just go for 60 days and extend for 30 more if I wanted to without paying any fee. I’m willing to pay a fee. I’m not gonna stay for more than 90 days anyway.

With the application you can put intended dates of arrival and length of stay. Majority apply themselves and are approved.

You can apply for the DTV as long as you are outside of Thailand & meet the specific criteria ie: soft power & financials
