Asking because I can’t find an absolute answer, is it mandatory to have a constant income in order to get a DTV? Am I obliged to be in Thailand continuously like with the student visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
It is not mandatory to have a constant income to obtain a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. Instead, applicants are required to prove financial stability, primarily demonstrated through savings (e.g., a requirement of approximately 500,000 THB). The DTV allows for flexibility in terms of travel and duration of stay, differing from student visas which require continuous presence in Thailand. Therefore, holders can enter and exit Thailand as desired, as long as they adhere to visa conditions.

No and no, at least not for the remote worker category.

If you’re looking for an absolute answer, Thai immigration is the wrong partner.

If you are applying under soft power you can be asked to show how you will be able to support yourself for the period of the visa without working

No, the main requirement is the 500k savings particularly when going down the soft power route.

And it’s the opposite of the Ed visa, in that each stamp only gives you 6 months in Thailand but you can get as many back to back stamps as you need within the 5 years your visa is valid

Stable income is not needed. Solo freelancers working direct clients or on a platform, are eligible.

Unless you select a course on soft power, the workcation category has no such rules. You are a free bird. Come, go, stay, as you wish.

what if you work seasonally landscaper ? 6-7 months a year then not work 6 .. would that count as income . Or am I eligible for DTV. I have the 500k actually more
Nattha *****
Anonymous participant 431 yes as long as you have 500k in your bank account...
Waqar ********
Anonymous participant 431 are you sure you can do it remotely? That's the main requirements.

No and no. You have to prove you have funds not income. Who know what the requirements in the future may be if you try to extend internally. It is a multi entry visa so you can come and go as you please, and physically have to leave after a certain period (again depending on whether you extend).

proof of income has been asked many times for soft power. So I would be prepared to answer this.

maybe it has but I suspect your point is irrelevant as I imagine the OP is asking for a reason!

not maybe, do a search here and you will see that it happened. He asked if it is mandatory. It is not mandatory but requested in some situations. This is what he has asked so better to tell him to be prepared to answer those requests.
