TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the process of obtaining a Non-B visa for teaching at a language school in Thailand through the Thai consulate in Denpasar, Bali. The user seeks clarity on whether a police record issued by the Indonesian National Police is required for this process, as they have conflicting accounts regarding its necessity compared to a previous colleague's experience.

I don't think people understand his question.

was trying to obtain a Non-Immigrant Visa "B" to teach in Thailand. In order to get that visa, Police Certificate from applicant's country is required. Since he was applying it in Bali, so the Thai consulate asked him to provide Police certificate from Indonesia police.

I think you are overthinking this. What the immigration wants to see are any international, federal crimes (as we call them in the USA). They want to see crimes like child molestation, skipping arrest warrents, murder, etc. This information would be shared in transnational databases the Thai government, and the Indonesian government, has access to. They aren't interested in parking tickets, or pickpocketing a stick of candy when you were 16...

that requirement to get an Indonesian police report is for INDO people applying for a non-B. Everyone else can use one from their country (if they have it) OR one from thailand.

I completely understand what the O/P wants to do.

The thai consulate IN Bali will accept a police background check FROM thailand when applying for the Non-B visa.

okay they WILL accept a police report from thailand at the Bali consulate

Best thing to do is go to the consulate and ask them direct. It's a small place, helpful and not too busy.

Thank you. We have the police record from Thailand. If that is enough that is great!
