Dear community,

I am seeking some advice before going to immigration.

I have just renewed my work permit and extended my visa until Early 2022. My wife and kids have a valid non O visa ending Mid January 2021 (90 non 0 visa delivered out of Thailand and extended in, aligned on contract period of my current and ended contract).

How to handle their visa renewal/extension? I am just asking as we will be for the first time managing this case from inside without starting from 0.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community suggests speaking directly with the immigration office handling your case, ideally with someone from your workplace who can assist with your work permit. It is crucial to prepare a list of required documents for your wife's and children's visa extensions, mirroring what was submitted the previous year. Also, consider whether to approach immigration now or wait until the last 21 days of their current visa.

thanks, do you think I should wait for the end of my wife's and children's visa to go to immigration (the famous 21 last days) or rush me now as soon as possible (having in mind that my personal visa i ms already extended). I am hesiting.๐Ÿค”

You need the exact documents you needed last year when they got their extensions "sync'd" to yours. It's a new extension every year and it requires the exact same documentation from you, your employer, the same copies of your passport, their passports, the marriage certificates, the birth certificates, etc <- it just requires all NEW copies of that stuff. :)

Best thing to do, as your position is quite unique, is to go and speak to the immigration office that will handle your case. i would also suggest you take someone from your work place who handles your work permit, even if it costs you lunch.

I've found most immigration officers helpful when given the chance.

Try and get someone to make an appointment for you with immigration so they can set aside some time to talk to you.

Make a list of what they say.

Just make sure, especially if you go to Changwattana Imm office, that you speak to an ACTUAL immigration officer, not one of the help desk people. It's a well known fact here that they will tell you anything rather than lose face by not knowing the answer. It's happened to me and others. And get the name of the officer you spoke to as well.
