How recent does a criminal background check need to be for a Non-B visa application for teachers at the Thai consulate in Laos?

Hello again lovely people,

Does anyone know how recent the criminal background check (called Basic Disclosure) needs to be when applying for a non-B for teachers at the Thai consulate in Laos?

I have been working in Thailand for over 3 years, so my Basic Disclosure from England is over 3 years old.

Who is the smarty-pants with the answer?

Thanks in advance...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for the criminal background check (Basic Disclosure) is unclear, but suggestions in the community indicate that a Thai police background check, obtained from the Special Branch office, might suffice, especially for those who have been working in Thailand for a while. Additionally, details specific to Vientiane show that this consulate accepts the Thai police check for Non-B visa applications.

This is the info for the Vientiane consulate for Non-B's for teachers. They accept the thai police background check you get from the Special Branch office no problem

Sorry for my miss reading of their website. it seems now that the requirements about police records are not just a copy but there is a time limit.

I am in Vientiane and they did not accept my police clearance. They want one less than one year old. He said I can use a Thai Police Check. Is Bangkok the only place to get one? Is it possible in Udon?

As you can read on their website, you need the original for your school and the Ministry of Education and a copy for the Thai Consulate. If your school and the Ministry of Education accepted your 3 year old Police clearance you will be fine.

Following. Are you planning on Savanakhet or Vientiane . My friend is picking up his non b today at Savanakhet and didn't have to submit a police check with his application.
