How long will it take to get a DTV visa in Hanoi, and what are my chances of approval without employment?

I’m going to appy DTV visa in Hanoi next month and im going to stay there for 8 days (haven’t booked the return flight yet). Should be enough for 8 days?

I have a few questions if anyone could give me some advice. I would appreciate so much!

1. I am online trader from UK and been living in Thailand for 1 years.

2. How long does it take to get Visa and Is there a high chance that my visa will be rejected because I am not the employed?

3. If a visa is rejected , should I appeal immediately? Or how long do I have to wait before applying again?

Thanks a lot in advance for any advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to apply for a DTV visa in Hanoi, seeking advice on the application process, approval duration, chances of rejection as a non-employed trader, and what to do if the visa is rejected. Community comments suggest that the application might take longer than 8 days, with recommendations for more preparation and documentation to support income proof. They highlight that being a trader without tax filings can complicate the process, and there is no official appeal process if rejected.

Hello! Like what another commenter has mentioned and from our experience assisting various applicants, those applying under the “Workation” route as traders often have a harder time, especially if they can’t show regular income or clear tax filings. The embassies will want verifying employment and source of income.

We’ve seen much higher success recently with the Soft Power route, especially with schools offering cultural programs like Thai cooking, music, or Muay Thai. Many of our students apply this way and get approved even without traditional full-time jobs, as long as they meet the financial proof and course requirements.

Also, 8 days in Hanoi is too little, you should plan for at least 2 weeks or more especially if you plan to apply under the Workation category.

And there is no appeal process if rejected. You can reapply but not recommended for 2nd application in same country

I just did my application in Hanoi i think if you prepare well your application you should be fine for the timeframe you are working with. I got mine in 3 business days but SENT THEM A LOT OF DOCUMENTS SO I COVERED ALL MY CORNERS. Im going to post here my application process so you can see what i did. Good luck 🙏

AnonymousWallaby2364 at Hanoi they rarely reject people after you get the status change from pending document check to pending approval. Only if there is something major found by the senior approval officer. Some people got rejected because the money was not there enough or big recent deposits that are just not justified by applicant. My wife is currently waiting for her application ar Hanaoi as well. She applied for the DTV dependent visa this past Tuesday. On Wednesday ( next day) her application went into pending approval NO FURTHER DOCUMENTS REQUESTED so she is along with you for the adjudication officer to approve her application. From what i have seen they do adjudications in batches on Wednesdays and Sundays in Hanoi. I have a strong feeling yours will be adjudicated this sunday. I hope my wife also gets approved too. Good luck

Trading is a difficult one unless you are registered with the tax authorities and show you pay tax in the UK
