Hey everyone 👋

Just a quick question for any fellow Aussies who’ve applied for the DTV from Australia in 2026 — how long did your approval process take?

Would love to hear your experience. Thanks in advance!

Answer summary

The approval process for the DTV visa from Australia varies based on the consulate and individual circumstances. Experiences shared by several Australians indicate a typical processing time of around 10 working days, particularly in Sydney. Applicants in Canberra reported durations ranging from 6 to 7 weeks, often affected by the planned departure date, which should ideally be set 4-5 weeks post-application to ensure timely processing.

10 working days is pretty standard in Sydney for any kind of visa.

Skippy5124 i read sometimes that people had to change the departure because of visas taking to long to process so better sooner than later. but don't worry it should be fine 🙏🤙

It took 7 working days in December using Canberra. I think your proposed departure date impacts speed of processing from what I read.

thanks Dominic. It’s seems that the departure date plays a role with processing from the responses I’ve got. I’ll book a flexible flight 4-5 weeks from application date.

Applied Canberra November 2025 took 6 weeks. My departure date was end of January so that is apparently why I waited to long.

So put your departure date 5-6 weeks from applying so it gets processed quicker.
