TLDR : Answer Summary
To change from a student visa to a DTV visa, you need to cancel your student visa and apply for the DTV from outside Thailand. There is no fixed requirement for staying outside the country for a specific duration like 60 or 90 days; it mainly depends on the processing time of the DTV visa at the embassy, which typically takes around 10-15 working days. Some applicants have returned within a few days without needing to wait long.

agreed with above ) no need until 60 or 90 days, my student just wait not over 2 weeks , some of them just 3 nights and come back ) let me know if you interesting in DTV cooking class 😊

Stay outside Thailand as long as it takes for the DTV visa to be processed. Embassies are posting 10-15 working days.
No - you can come straight back. Many people in this group have done exactly this in your situation. You are overthinking things lol. You will be fine - good luck.

Cancel your student visa, leave Thailand and just apply DTV.
