Just wanted to give a shout out to the Immigration office in Udon Thani regarding my 30 day extension following 60 day visa exempt. In and out within about 40 minutes, they were very helpful and spoke English well. I only had to give them 2000 baht, my passport and tell them where l was staying and they did all the paperwork and took my photo with no further questions asked. Job well done.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post highlights a positive experience with the Immigration office in Udon Thani, where an expat successfully obtained a 30-day extension following a 60-day visa exemption in just 40 minutes. The office staff were described as very helpful and fluent in English, requiring only a payment of 2000 Baht, the expat's passport, and details of their accommodation. Comments from other users also affirm the efficiency of various immigration offices in Thailand, including similar experiences in Krabi and Bangkok, with some humorous notes about payment amounts.

If you gave them 3000 Baht it would have been even faster!

yes they are very kind in Udon Thani 😊 And fast. When I applied for my 1st 1 year extension of stay they were not happy with some of the photos and my wife's housebook had not been updated with the name change. We were told to just send what they asked for from the Line app 👍 very good instead of having to go back.

Same in Bangkok, but cheaper price at 1900 baht
Henrik *****
Well the price is 1900 Baht.

Same in Krabi. Super fast service with a smile. Love that immigration office.

je confirme ça prend 2 mn. Tous ce qu'on doit faire, c'est signer le formulaire et noter notre adresse/email et numéro de téléphone.

you could have saved 100 Baht if you did give them 1900.- THB in readily available banknotes. They cheated you and kept 100 THB change 😂😅😂

@Nongnuch *******
is there really people (foreigners living in Thailand) bothering about 100 THB 🫣 ?
Nongnuch ********
@Kan *****
there are foreigners who bother not getting scammed 😂 for no matter how high the THB amount is

@Nongnuch *******
funny is that most of the time we are scammed by this or that and we don't even realize it 😁😂😁
David *******
Keeping the 2000bht with no change given has been their mo for many years.

Thanks captain obvious. You really sound like a miserable know it all with a large chip on your shoulder. No one cheated anyone and they didn't just decide to steal money from me as you are suggesting. They charged 100 baht, which is absolutely bugger all, for a service that l was very happy to pay.

I’m sure it was meant to be a joke. I’m under a different office. They never complete any forms for you as that forms part of their VIP service and includes an appointment time which is, of course, not normally available.

l had heard that other offices weren't terribly user friendly, which was why l was happy to share my positive experience here about the Udon Thani office.

Thanks! It makes a change to hear instead of moans about trivial things. I’ve been ‘told off’ for neglecting to do things but since then I went for their VIP service. Unfortunately, my officer moved on. Last time I forgot to bring a bank statement. The officer could have sent me away on another 120km round trip but he agreed to accept 500 baht. Coincidentally, that was the fee for the previous VIP service!

I didn't joke. My Immigration has been filling out all the forms for me since 16 years. On each new extension, a single re-entry included. I pay 1900.- THB for the Extension and 1000.- THB for the re-entry permit. I only get to sign each copy with blue ink. I don't pay for any VIP service (which won't even be available as you have correctly noted) Well, some Immigrations that are not overly busy tend to be more relaxed - my Immigration is Sisaket

@Ross *******
when I do my yearly extension of stay, I pay the exact 1900.- THB fee, they run a dozen copies and they even fill out the forms for me, I just have to sign. Nobody on my immigration ever asked for 100.- Baht for the dozens of copies. It is like that since 16 years 😃 🤣 😄

wow you’re a super star

@Jack *******
they actually like me on that Immigration. The boss told me she would never give me another certificate of residence, because I live here for so long and I should take care and get a yellow housebook. And that's what I did
Jack ********
@Nongnuch *******
maybe you should run for the mayor of Bangkok boy
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
that was probably the fee for missing copies of things etc.. Fair enough.
Roy *********
@Mikkel ******
Yep, that's what they do.

I think that 100 baht goes to the students that do the copies etc
Brandon ************
@Mikkel ******
That's what I figured

Udonthani Immigration office is known to be very effective and informative. Most if not all speaking English very well.
