How does the validity of a multi-entry E visa work for stays in Thailand?

I got a multi entry E visa valid from 28th November until 26th of may. I thought I’d get stamped I. From the day I arrived. Until the 26th of may. But I’ve been told I’ll only get stamped in for 60 days on the day I arrive in Thailand. But obviously I’ll be able to come & go. But if I arrived on day 25 th of may. Would I get stamped in for 60 days 🤔

TLDR : Answer Summary
A multi-entry E visa allows for multiple entries into Thailand, but each entry is generally stamped for a maximum of 60 days. If you enter Thailand on the 25th of May, you will still receive a 60-day stamp despite your visa being valid until the 26th of May. Additionally, each 60-day stay can be extended by an additional 30 days, allowing for a potential total stay of up to 9 months across the validity of the visa.

Note that if you exit and reenter just prior to expiry of the METV you will be stamped in for another 60 days.

Note each 60 day stay can be extended by 30 days.

The METV effectively can provide almost 9 month stay

not anymore. From now on, tourists are no longer allowed to stay for more than 157 days per year.

where is this 157 days statement from please? Because a METV means just that (used within the 6 months from date of issue) and l had this confirmed by a good agent.

It's clear in the conditions on the e-visa website that there is a maximum 60days stay for each entry with a multi-entry visa.

Yes, that's how a multiple entry visa works. Every entry during the validity of the visa will give you the full entry stamp.
