TLDR : Answer Summary
Argentinian citizens do not currently need a visa to enter Thailand due to a visa exemption agreement but must comply with specific Covid-19 entry regulations. This includes acquiring a Certificate of Entry (COE), having Covid insurance, confirming a booking at a government-approved quarantine hotel, and providing a fit-to-fly certificate. Despite the exemption from needing a visa, travelers must still navigate these additional requirements to enter Thailand.

According to the embassy the 500,000 thb for a O Visa is no longer required. This screenshot is from the Thai Embassy website, valid from 22 Nov.

When has this become in force please, document has no date on it. Apparently Thai PM has asked gov to speed up opening for tourists. The above shown 30 day Tourist visa cabinet to discuss this week, extending to 45 days.
Adam *******
You don't need visa, you get it on arrival for 30 days now extended to 60 days but you will be doing 14 days quarintine for sure

Even people don’t need visa but they need COE and many documents anyway. The travel policy have change frequency.So contact local embassy or checking embassy’s website more often.

Has everyone else been asked for 200 000 baht as funds to show? The funds can be arranged but requires time.

Curious why I have not seen the amount stipulated from the embassy, I feel more clarity required.
Karim ***************
Also, once you’re in Thailand, there’s all sorts of ways to stay longer... Volunteer visas, education visas, that you can get for 1 year extensions... approx 35,000 baht.

thanks pm sent.

@Martin **********
you don’t need 200,000 baht.
Martin ***********
@Karim **************
Is that correct? I did see something about amnesty but not pay enough attention. Has amnesty become valid immediately or from a future date ?
Karim ***************
@Martin **********
“Visa Exemption”, has literally just been announced. You know, how we used to hve the 30 days on arrival, now it’s 45, to account for the quarantine. You’re best bet is the 60 Tourist visa with no financial requirements, as this can also be extended for 30 days if you decide to stay longer.
Martin ***********
This 60 day Tourist visa is what I applied for but embassy today sent me email saying 200 000 baht in bank, bizarre!

I expect COE still required .

Was exemption announced a few days ago ?
Karim ***************
@Martin **********
where are you? London Thai Embassy don’t make those requirements! And that goes for US and European embassies as well! Yea COE is needed as well as a clear Covid test, 72 hours before departure. The Visa exemption should show up on embassy websites within this next week. It was announced couple of days ago and is already showing up on many embassy websites. Always takes a few days for updates to get everywhere. If I were you, I would challenge that 200,000 requirement. If you need, I can find you the tourist visa official announcement, so you can send that to your embassy and challenge them.
Martin ***********
@Karim **************
Thank you for your assistance, As you say out of country embassies may still be processing this new info. If you have access to this exemption document I would appreciate viewing it, perhaps you could upload photo to this page? Any assistance much appreciated 🙏🙏
Karim ***************
@Martin **********
you should follow the Thaigar on Facebook or YouTube. It’s Thai news in English and always has latest announcements.

I also added a link for embassy notice about visa exemption. Read info on there, tells you everything.

Not 200.000 THB but minimum 800.000 if you need a long stay visa !😈And 14 days quarantine !😈
Karim ***************
@Andrea *****************
complete bullshit. 800,000 is what you need for a retirement visa to live there permanently. Why do people quote false information? Thailand have just announced Visa exemption, so you can go there without a visa if you’re one of the 56 countries this applies too, 45 day time allowed but yes, 15 days in quarantine, no financial requirements. Then there is the Tourist visa that is 60 days for $80 and can be extended for another 30 days in country for $65. And finally there is the Special Tourist visa that lasts 90 days and can be renewed 3 times, cost $80 dollars, must show $30 a day for every day you plan to stay in Thailand.

All travel to Thailand requires 15 days stay in a hotel (Alternative state quarantine,ASQ) Andrea, you don’t know what you’re talking about!
Andrea ******************
@Karim **************
I said : if you need a long stay VISA ....please read before answer ...and for every country Is different also for VOA 🇹🇭
Lopsee **********
@Karim **************
Special Tourist Visa, is there a financial requirement or have they scrapped it? Couldnt find the info.
Karim ***************
@Lopsee ********
they scrapped the original 500,000 baht in savings that you needed to show for 6 months of bank statements. You now need the equivalent of $30 (£25 or 1000 baht) for everyday you plan to stay so... 90x$30= $2700... about 90,000 baht. Pretty reasonable I think... You can renew that visa at a Thai immigration office in country, twice, for a total of 270 days in Thailand but I’m not sure if they keep checking your available funds.
Lopsee **********
@Karim **************
family would be per person then?
Karim ***************
@Lopsee ********
for family, you need to show $1500 for every 30 days you’re in Thailand... so $4500 for the 90 days.
Apex ********************
@Ka***
$30 a day? Where did you get that number from?
Karim ***************
@Thailand ***************************************
that’s what it works out as... statement showing 700 a month if you’re single and 1500 a month if you’re a family. As per the link just posted.

Don't see any mention of bank funds on attached document. Personally I'm applying for 60 day Tourist visa.
Karim ***************
@Martin **********
that’s because Andrea just talked absolute bullsh*t... That’s why you don’t see it. See my other response explaining all requirements.
Andrea ******************
@Martin **********
Currently Thailand has closed all borders, including land borders (excluding Thai citizens or ASEAN), however if you want to go to Thailand you have to respect 14 days of quarantine in a location decided by the Thai government and at their price. These are the provisions currently in force for the states of the document I have published.

For different nationalities , or passports is better to inquire well at the Thai Embassy in the country of origin to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Best regards.😉
Martin ***********
@Andrea *****************
You stating the obvious. I have a quarantine booking reserved already. Contacting the embassy takes days by email and no phone service unfortunately to speed up any query.

Money is not the issue so much for me. Im more im worry about getting everything i need to be able to go in
Martin ***********
Embassy London not answering phones, perhaps too much work.

Secondly, I was under the impression bank statement required 20 000 baht for single person but today embassy asked for 200 000 baht(5000 pounds).

I wish embassy would make known their requirements beforehand.
Lopsee **********
@Martin **********
haha if they answer can you please let me know as well? I 🤣
Martin ***********
@Lopsee ********
Having written to embassy last night they have decided to process visa today. I submitted one bank statement showing 800 pounds, perhaps they considered this insufficient, have topped it up today per chance they change their minds.

Perhaps they need see 1500-2000 minimum for assurity.
Lopsee **********
@Martin **********
is it for family or just one person? I did ask them how much is 'sufficient' funds and they said to check their website 🤦‍♀️

Dont see anything on their website about the actual figures.
Martin ***********
Does anyone know if you to receive your visa before you can apply for COE online please ?
Martin ***********
For 1 person, think it's 1500 per month for a family
Martin ***********
@Lopsee ********
Embassy not specify, my above an estimate, I think in excess of 1000-1500 pounds equivalent

@Martin **********
thanks. If only they gave a straight answer eh

Will try. It appears Thai PM has asked government to speed up allowing in tourists and will be reviewed this week at cabinet level.

Jane ***********
@Rodrigo ******
there is no way they are going to drop quarantine by April, if that’s what you’re waiting for. Until they start vaccinations of vulnerable (May) I don’t think things will change. Except maybe reducing quarantine for low risk countries to 10 days

The local embassy is the most up to date source of truth.
Moaya **********
The Correct answer has been posted here several

Times - obviously call the embassy - they do answer and the info is on the web site ... maybe the admins should anchor a post at that top re - fit to fly , covid testing - quarantine hotels and the list of acceptable ones - covid insurance -elite visas - countries you can enter from and the basic overall

Cost of entering Thailand 🇹🇭 and paying for all

That and the quarantine ... it seems to be asked answered and heaps of snarky and unhelpful comments cloud each query ... the process is simple and straightforward.

@Rodrigo ******
They just announced that people can get into thailand on the visa exempt entry programs and that means you as an Argentinian would get stamped in for 90 days without needing a visa. It just came out so the embassies are slowly getting dialed in about it.

IF you're in the USA the first step is to contact one of the thai consulates and begin the "request permission to enter thailand" process.

Here's the thai consulate in New York website where you start the process

********************************************************************

You still would need to have the 100 thousand US dollars in covid insurance, the fit-2-fly certificate from a doctor, a booked stay at one of the thai government approved Alternative State Quarantine hotels, and a certificate of entry.

BUT

You don't need to buy a visa :)
Paul ********
Did you check on your local RTE website it will be part of the basic information that has always been there

@Paul *******
have not
Stuart *********
Pre Covid, Argentinians could enter Thailand for a period of 90 based on a bi-lateral agreement. However now everyone needs a certificate of entry, Covid insurance, ASQ hotel booking and a Covid free test plus a fit to fly certificate. I guess you’d need to check with a local consulate on how to obtain a CofE.
Rodrigo *******

@Stuart ********
what u mean fit to fly?
Ken ***********
Stuart *********
@Rodrigo ******
you get a certificate from a doctor that you are “fit to fly”. Your local consulate should have information on what that needs to say, and perhaps even suggestions on where to obtain.
