Hi Guys, I will be applying for my O ret soon and understand we have to have a bank book with our chosen bank . Never used one here just card and most stuff done on line ,so if all my deposits are through wise online and most withdrawals from atm ,when do we go into the bank and get it all into the book ? is it a yearly update where they take the book and fill in the transactions. or do we have to regularly make branch visits ? i understand it has to be up to date for immigration extensions .Thanks for any info ,cheers.
Answer summary
The user is seeking guidance on the procedural aspects of updating their bank book, which is necessary for applying for a Non-O visa in Thailand. They primarily conduct their banking online and are uncertain about how, when, and if they need to visit the bank to have their transactions updated in their bank book. Commenters suggest that the bank book is typically updated once a year during the visit for the immigration statement but also recommend obtaining a complete 12-month bank statement from the bank as an alternative. Additionally, they emphasize the importance of having a bank book ready for the visa application.

Why do you say we? Are you a married couple and each of you are applying for the Non O based on being over 50? Do you each have your own bank account in your own name? Are you applying for the Visa or the extension?

The bank normally gives you a bank book when you open your account

If you do not have one get is as soon as you can.

Go to the local Immigration Office where your TM30 is filed and get their current list of requirements for your extension then start assembling what they require

you can ask your bank for a 12-months statement, which would list EVERY transaction you made during the recent 12 months. You should however expect (at least with some banks) that it can take up to one week to issue the statement

If you don't have a bank book I would sort that now. What sort of entry stamp are you currently on?

Did you not get a bank book when you opened your account?

You can do it on the day you go to the bank for your statement and letter for immigration once a year.
