ORIGINAL POSTER
[Australian] Got my 30 day (20+10) day covid extension today with consular letter. Posting to assist others avoid kafkian back and forth with Aus gov. To get the letter I had to:

* State that already received 30 day standard extension. State was a long term resident. Include passport pic

* (may have helped) Mentioning that had a lease, partner, life here, aging family in Aus. Send pics of expiring visa, offer bank statements etc

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat successfully obtained a 30-day (20+10 day) COVID extension for their visa by providing a consular letter. They had to state that they previously received a standard 30-day extension, confirm their long-term residency, and submit additional documentation such as a passport picture, proof of lease, partnership details, and family situation in Australia.
