Successful Non O to A one year extension granted today at Phuket with the embassy affidavit from Sept. 2018. Wasn't sure if it would be accepted as I couldn't apply until now (30 days before expiration of Non O), but all is well.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully transitioned from a 90-day Non-O visa to a one-year extension of stay in Phuket, using an embassy affidavit from September 2018. There was initial uncertainty about the application process since they could only apply within 30 days of the Non-O visa expiration. A comment noted that the O-A visa is typically obtained before entering Thailand, but congratulated the user on their successful extension and reminded them to acquire a re-entry permit if planning to leave Thailand during the extension period.

Hmm, you didn't get an O-A anything in country :/ An O-A VISA is only sold by the thai consulate in your country BEFORE you wing your way here.

Be that as it may, It appears you went from a 90 day Non-O visa to a year long extension of stay. So Congrats

I thought Phuket allowed people to apply for an extension when they had 45 days or less left on their current stamp :(

Still good on you (y) Don't forget to buy a re-entry permit IF you're going to leave the country during this next year.

Yes, still mucking up the terminology! Year long extension of stay with an endorsed "Retired" stamp on the visa. Honestly, the very kind immigration officer at Phuket said "45 days". I assumed he meant that I had to wait 45 days more putting me at the 30 day prior expiration mark. But his English (understandably) is bloody hard to understand so he very well may have been saying within 45 days and not 30... Thanks for the congrats, much appreciated.
