Hi,

I'll be doing a visa run to Penang in a few days.

I am planning to drive my Motorbike from Surat Thani to the Malaysian Border.

I supposed it would be best that I leave my motorbike for a few days near at the border Thai side rather than trying to bring it with me to Penang or to the Malaysian ferry close to Penang: I think it may not be possible to do that with a newly purchase motorbike not yet registered on my name.

Does anyone has experience with parking the motorbike safely by the border for a few days?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is planning a visa run to Penang from Surat Thani on a motorbike but is concerned about parking it safely at the border for a few days, especially since the bike is newly purchased and not registered in their name. Community comments suggest various options for parking, including leaving it at a hotel near the border, the potential risks of theft, the impracticality of crossing the border with an unregistered bike, and the recommendation to consider taking a bus instead.

That is a long drive on a small motorbike, and without the green book in your name you can't take it across the border. It would actually be faster, and much safer, to just take a bus to the border and back.

You can't take it over forget that.

But if you stay one night in a hotel near the border they might let you leave the bike in secure parking there while you go over.

Worth a try. Sure they will do if you give them a tip.

It may be gone when you come back.

Does your new mc have a red plate ??

they don't issue red plates for motorbikes. You simply drive with no plate until yours comes.

Gordon Kilpatrick all new bikes will have a new red plate until 2-3 months when the white one comes in after the dealership registers. Not sure what Kool Bree’s is smoking …
