TLDR : Answer Summary
Expats in Thailand without a Thai bank account can utilize the TagThai service, which operates through KBANK for QR code payments. This method requires topping up with cash at a foreign exchange desk, and users must deal with exchange rates for foreign currency transactions. Some users have expressed concerns about the fees associated with other payment services and the necessity to maintain a cash trail.
You have to use foreign currency so it's the exchange rate on the day.

Better to keep your cash trail out. Just scan with an qr code from Cambodia or some other linked country. Or ATM and pay the 220 bath but take the max out.

What's the exchange rate they give you? Been using Moreta Pay which is 3% on tx fees. Plus $0.45 ach for deposit.
You can pay $10/mo if you want 1.5% but it doesn't pay unless you're doing > $667 a month which I don't. I maybe use $50-$100 a month on it.
Iβm curious why you use Moreta Pay. Is just preference?
Moreta Pay only works with business QR & charge 3%. If the business support business QR, they most likely to support Visa/Master card as payment option.
Perhaps people want the convenience of QR code payments so much that they are willing to do that. I wouldn't mind doing that, put say 100,000 baht in at a time and that should last a while
that would make sense, deposit large amounts to avoid carrying cash. I wonder if that app would allow large deposits, but still not much interested in QR payments in my personal opinion
