TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking assistance in opening a bank account in Thailand, specifically in Phuket, as they have faced difficulties in doing so with a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). Community members suggested trying different banks, shared experiences, and offered advice, including obtaining a letter from the embassy to help with the account opening process.

Get a letter from your embassy stating where you live and present it to the bank.

Anonymous participant 524 Residence Certificates are issued by immigration. Years ago some banks wanted a letter from an Embassy but many embassies will not issue anything. As far as I am aware they wanted a Residence Certificate from immigration ratified by an Embassy that it was you. That is the understanding I gleaned fron Bangkok Bank staff on Sukhumvit Bangkok. It was moot anyway.

Hey 👋 have you tried TTB / Bangkok Bank? I’ve opened mine there with a DTV, but in Bangkok so it might be different in Phuket.

I went to ttb Ekkamai branch and they asked for:

- DTV

- DTV stamp in the passport

- Apartment Lease (12 months required)

- Employment contract

- National ID card (in my case Kazakhstan).

The process took about an hour and on the next day I received my digital card and a debit account in ttb.

Why would they ask for employment contract on DTV? It’s a non work permit visa.
