Are you now in the first year of the OA visa you obtained before you flew to Thailand?

What is the expiration date of your OA visa? Look at it and it says it's valid for Entry into Thailand from date 📅 to 📅 date.

no, 2nd year. Stamp valid Oct. 4th, 2024. I change in 2025 to non o. Suppose incountry non OA requirements r identical to external non OA requirements in EU as my initial were in 2022.

@Jordi *******
So you're on an Extension of Stay if you're in your second year and your original Non-OA has now expired.

if you haven't bought a re-entry permit yet, for this second-year stay permit, you just EXIT Thailand and the stay permit will become invalid. Only at this point the road is open and you will be able to apply for a new visa or be able to re-enter Thailand on another reason. Then you either re-enter visa exempt, or with a Tourist Visa and apply on Immigration for the "change of visa type" from a tourist visa or visa exempt entry, to a 90 days Non-immO married visa. Or get a 90 days Non-Imm-O married visa on a Thai consulate in a neighbouring country, which requires you take your wife with you and all the proofs for your marriage and a financial proof (400,000 THB in a bank account in yxour sole name or 12-months transfers of 40,000 THB or income affidavit if applicable)

I suspect he's used a border bounce to get another years stamp on his initial non-oa just before it expired

Officer handed out EOS checklist for non oa to be continued in Thailand. $$$, health insurance, plus I don’t understand due to Thai language. For this EOS I don’t need border bounce.

But I wanted to ask & confirm by him that I do need to leave Thailand in case of non OA change to non o. What is still the situation I suppose. However I do continue with EOS non OA requirements 1 year more and then new attempt to talk to this guys here for non o.

as

ie said above you can not change to a non-o inside Thailand. As you appear to be on the first year of a non-oa visa the only extension you can get is for the same reason as the non-oa visa so they've given you the correct requirements for an extension of stay based on retirement. You will either need to accept that or leave Thailand just before your non-oa visa expires and return after it has expired either with a non-o visa based on marriage obtained at a nearby consulate, or a tourist visa/visa exempt and apply for the non-o inside Thailand
Ellie *******
First of all, you cannot change your Non-OA to Non-O inside Thailand.

As a rule, you have to apply for the first extension for the same reason as your entry stamp based on your visa. AFTER you spend a 1-year extension, you can change the reason for an extension to another, in your case, from retirement to marriage to a Thai.

The requirements list for extension (and checklist) is province office-specific. You might need to go to the local office again on your own to get an English version.

@Ellie ******
but because any extension would based on a non-oa I suspect the insurance requirement would persist even if the reason changes?
Ellie *******
@John *********
, that's what you check with your local office. Only the extension based on retirement (being over 50) clearly states the insurance requirements for Non-OA entry in the police order. As far as I know, In general, an extension based on marriage (for example) doesn't require insurance even entry is from Non-OA
Graham ******
@John *********
correct for the first extension but not for a subsequent extension after the reason is changed
John **********
@Graham *****
thanks. I thought they'd have to get themselves on a non-o to lose that
Graham ******
@John *********
No, after taking the first Extension of Stay from the Non-OA the reason can then be changed for the second without getting a Non-O first which would require a border bounce
