TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a medical certificate for exchanging your Irish driving license in Bangkok, you can visit any local medical clinic. It's best to choose a more Thai-centric clinic for lower costs, typically around 100-200 baht. Many clinics provide the certificate quickly, often without needing to see a doctor—just a staff member will assist you. You may also consider visiting the DLT complex near Chatuchak market, where a nearby clinic can help you with this process.

You don't exchange your Irish licence, you keep it.

You only show it to prove you can drive.

You will watch a 1 hour video in Thai and read the Thai highway code in English.

A few simple tests, depth perception and colour.

Can get a medical certificate from any clinic, they write them out in front of you. May take blood pressure at the most.

Including a nonsens colorblindness test, that has no practical influence on you ability to drive.

You are born color blind.

I said "A few simple tests, depth perception and colour"

The colour test is nonsens, and when you don’t pass it, you can’t pass the test, and get a Thai drivers license !

I never have seen a traffic light, where the colours change position, it is always red, yellow, green from the top down.

Go the DLT centre, turn around and drive back out, you are bound to find a clinic that has been set up by some entrepeneur doctor just for this service close by.
Steve *******
Any clinic

When you go to the DLT complex across from chatuchak market, any motorbike taxi driver can take you to the one close to there. It takes about 20 minutes, and about bt200. That is the easiest, and it is right there close to where you get your license

Just go to the nearest doctor you can find, you will not need to talk with anybody then the staff, they will make it for you in less that 10 minuttes.

Why would you give up your licence for a Thai one. Just do the test impossible to fail unless your blind ,,

you don’t give up your license you just get a Thai one and you keep yours….

meaning when you go with your license (Irish in this case) you get a Thai one and keep both, you don’t do any test other than colour, sight range and reflexes. You get a conversion and keep both.
John ***************
@Tullio ******
yes that is what I did just take a eye. Site test with you ,then do a colour blind test there and your away
Henrik *****
@John **************
If you are colorblind you can not pass the test.

@Henrik ****
sure you can. Just redo it enough times until they get tired of you 😂

Witnessed an elderly man doing the three tests (color, peripheral vision, reaction) and botched them again and again. He was helped enough to finally get through anyway.
Henrik *****
Not possibel, just been through the proces 2 month ago, and you can’t cheat the colorblindness test by doing it multiple times.

You don’t just give up your home license. It ceases to be valid after three months. You then need a Thai license to drive legally in Thailand

Literally any medical clinic can do it. The more Thai it is, the cheaper it is. You can just show them the form and they will fill it out. It's very basic and you probably won't even see a doctor, just a staff member at the clinic.

Should be like 100-200 baht.
