Hello everyone. I need the copy of my Irish driving license certified by an Irish Embassy. Do I need it translated to Thai in order to converting to Thai driving license (original driving license is in English)?

*Update*

Thank you everyone. I do appreciate all of your advices. I contacted the local DLT office in my area in Khonkaen (again) to tell them that many foreigners that I know (kinda šŸ˜) didnā€™t have their driving licenses translated to Thai if itā€™s in English. They still insisted us (me and my American fiancĆ©) having our driving licenses certified and translated.

Itā€™s the hassle to go to the Embassy in Bangkok to get our driving license certified. We decided to make an appointment with DLT for driving theory exam and driving test. Hopefully, it goes wellšŸ¤ž. Wish us luck!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster inquired if their Irish driving license needs to be translated to Thai for conversion to a Thai driving license, noting the license is in English. Comments indicated mixed experiences, with some users stating that English driving licenses do not require translation or certification, while others noted that specific District Land Offices (DLTs) might have varying requirements. Ultimately, the person decided to proceed with the conversion process without translation but mentioned scheduling a driving theory exam and test.

No

DLT Chonburi will accept license if in English. I had a German one and had to get it translated into Thai and get the translation certified by the German Embassy. If your Irish license is in Gaelic you will need to do the above.

Maybe DLT (District Land Office) dependent

, but for first temp. licence I only needed (Khorat): Certificate of Residence (from immigration).

Healthcare certificate (cheap one in one of those small clinics)

Copy Visa

Original drivers licence and copy

International drivers permit and copy

Went afternoon to prevent to see movie for 1,5-2 hours. Just made de tests (reaction, color (2) and depth)

So I did not need it certified nor translated. But.............šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
