Hi

I applied and paid for TR visa in my home country and expected/hoped to be stamped in for 60 days. However I only received 30 days on arrival in Bangkok. I am now in Chiang Mai. Where do I go to extend and is the cost still 1,900 although I have TR? Travelling on NZ passport.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user applied for a TR visa expecting a 60-day stamp upon arrival in Bangkok but received only a 30-day stamp. They are now seeking information on where to extend their visa in Chiang Mai and whether the extension cost remains 1,900 baht despite holding a TR visa. Commenters suggest checking the visa details upon arrival, with one sharing a success story of correcting a similar mistake at the airport and providing advice for future entries.

Same happened to me about one month ago ,tried charge me 15.000 baht but I asked to talk to immigration officer at immigration check point at airport ,she was great realise it was immigration fault did few things on pc then changed to stamp to 60days said sorry their fault but did suggest that when entering Thailand next time to keep the passport page with visa stamp open to show immigration officer as go through immigration gate so they see stamp as they don't look for stamp

@Paul ******
they looked for my visa last night when i arrived, i had to show them which one as i have a few glued into my passport, then i got taken away to the fast track area as they didnt understand what the OX visa was and had to get senior Immigration officer to explain what stamp to give me. Some are not very switched so i always check they have stamped me into until 2027

Was your visa in your passport or evisa? If evisa did you have it printed out and present it to them when you entered?

Either way, it's your responsibility to check before you even step away from passport control that you got the correct stamp in your passport.

If you have a visa in your passport, did they mark through and write or stamp USED on it?

It may be too late now, but you could possibly go back and have them fix it.

You can apply for a 30 day extension on a visa exempt entry at IT Square Lak Si. The price is 1900baht.

If you are trying to maximize your time in Thailand, you can leave and re-enter Thailand by 15 November and get your 60 day stamp which you can extend for 30, giving you another 90 days. If not, you can try asking at immigration if they will switch you to the visa since they missed it at the airport.

But since you entered in Bangkok, Chiang Mai may say they cannot do anything.

When I referenced IT Square Laksi, that's only in Bangkok, so you'll need to go to the immigration office at Chaing Mai since that's where you are it seems.

Thanks for the info. My error seems to be that I didn’t check at the time as the stamp in my passport hasn’t been marked used. I will go to the office you have advised
