Can I extend my TR visa by paying at the Immigration Office on the expiration date in Thailand?

Hello guys,

I entered the country on 5th December 2020 with a normal TR visa. This means my 60 days will expire on 2nd February. Is it enough accordingly, if I also go to the Immigration Office in Ko Samui only on 2nd February to pay the 1900 Baht to extend 30days?

Also, I would be grateful for any advice / possibility, how and to which visa I can change within Thailand, so that I extend my stay.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about extending their TR visa by visiting the Immigration Office in Ko Samui on the expiration date, February 2nd, to pay for a 30-day extension. The community advised that it's better to go before January 29th to apply for a 60-day 'COVID' extension instead, as it's the same price. They also mentioned that changing to different types of visas within Thailand depends on the user's qualifications and documentation for options like marriage or education visas.

and just like that, this went from how to extend a visa to an off topic discussion of schools that issue ED visas.

This isn't that group, Sorry :/

Post that stuff on f/b pages related to where you live in thailand.

Good luck to the O/P, thanx all for the comments. we are done. Take care, stay safe,

as far as how or what visa you can "change" that to inside the country, well that's gonna come down to what type of visa you qualify for and meet the financial or documentation requirements. (marriage, education, etc)

Post on a f/b page related to the south of thailand and ask about long term visa options

Do you have a recommendation for me for such a fb page? For marriage as I know I would need a certificate from Germany that I can marry, right? Education visa was already in my mind, because I got told that it should be available for Thai languange school again, isn't it?

@Kl***
keep in mind this is a visa advice page not a "what visa can I get to stay longer" page :O So we don't really allow "fishing for visa" questions :/

Find a f/b page related to where you live in thailand and post your questions like that there.

your best bet would be to go BEFORE the 29th of Jan and apply for a 60 day 'covid' extension instead of the "regular" 30 day extension you can get from a tourist visa. It's the same price

guess you'll find that out when you ask the immigration officer while you're there applying for the 60 day covid extension :)

Just so you know there is no reason to wait until the last day of your current entry stamp to go apply for either extension (the regular 30 day or the 60 day covid) and if you're going to try to get the 60 day covid extension you need to do it before the order allowing them runs out on the 29th of Jan.

I asked this at Jomtien immigration last week and he said I would need to get the 30 day extension first...I will go back just before 29th and hope I have more luck 🤞

Hmmm, other people who showed up on 60 day tourist visas and went for their extensions reported they weren't even given the choice of a 30 day extension, instead they were issued the 60 day covid extension automatically :O

this is what I’m hoping for...the guy on the desk who I spoke to can be a bit strict, I’ll try to get one of the girls instead and just ask for a 60 day extension form

Oh wow I don't thought this is still possible for people who arrived "new". Stupid question, IF they don't give covid extensions after these 60days can I still use the "regular" 30 days extension?
