E-Visa Remark Incorrect

I applied for my Non-B visa in Laos, had the E-visa approved and successfully entered Thailand on the E-Visa.

My school will now submit documents to the MOE, however they have noted the Remarks: section on the E-Visa says "Teacher at...."

This is incorrect as the visa applied for was for a staff visa, under Educational Personnel for Administrative Duties as per my visa application documents.

Whichever role, the visa is Non-B.

Is there a way to have the remark on the E-Visa paper corrected?
Answer summary
The user successfully entered Thailand on a Non-B E-Visa obtained in Laos, but the visa incorrectly states their position as a teacher instead of as administrative staff. They seek guidance on how to amend this error on their E-Visa.

I pay landlord through wise. Usually in his account in a few minutes. Sometimes the first transfer takes a while (mine took 2 days).

Fidelity, and Schwab both offer brokerage accounts that refund atm fees and have no foriegn transaction fee. You can set your own withdrawal limits but Thai atms cap at 30k baht ber transaction. Wise or western union can do bank transfers to your landlord for a fairly small fee.

Open a SCHWAB investor checking account — refund on ATM fees worldwide. Ensure you receive the debit card before you head out to Thailand. This is the best method to withdraw cash (THB) from any ATM. Deny the ATM conversion fees while withdrawing let SCHWAB handle conversion as their rate is better.

Wise for any rent/bills/online shopping. Works like a breeze. Make an account with Wise before heading to Thailand and ensure you receive the debit card. Can act as a backup debit card if you lose your SCHWAB debit card. And vice versa. Small fees on ATM withdrawal.

Feel free to ask any questions. Moved there 3 months ago and been a breeze!

thank you for the helpful reply! as far as security deposits go when signing a lease, did you have to pay in cash for that, or was that done as an online transfer somehow?

We paid the deposit via Wise, and continue sending monthly payments via Wise as well. Our apartment manager slides a bill under our door and we pay via Wise. They then provide a receipt a few days later under the door.

Also one correction, when withdrawing from Schwab or Wise, you receive THB but the conversion is best to select through Wise or Schwab instead of the ATM’s local bank.

Wise / Revolut. I prefer revolut with a Thai baht currency account. Choose when to buy baht, and transfer the money straight to my landlady’s account.

Also have the true money app for paying by scan.

As far as for cash I use kungsri and take money out at the banks exchange counter from a euro account by debit card with my card and passport. No limit or a limit I haven’t reached yet. 😊

Also American in Bangkok but I work here, so my need is getting money OUT of Thailand. I'm happy to trade you THB cash or to your Thai account for market rate, and you can transfer me the USD equivalent via Zelle or PayPal.

Schwab works well to limit fees if you will still have US address for setup. Credit unions also.

I couldn't get Revolut to accept me. Wise doesn't work for outbound, so I closed it but people bringing money into Thailand seem to love it.

Before I got my Thai account I paid my landlord, cleaner, kids school ect using western Union and I would transfer larger amounts to myself that way as well.

YELLOW ATMs (Krungsri) 30K THB max withdrawal, fee is 250 THB. But the fee you should REALLY be watching out for is your own bank's currency CONVERSION RATE and foreign transaction fee, varies a LOT by bank, so switch to the right bank. And ofc, always make sure to press: "continue without conversion" ! And lastly, make sure to take your card back, because many ATMs in Thailand hand out cash first, card second!

I use Revolut. Pretty much the same as Wise.

Had to transfer 280,000฿ for something and the fee was 251฿.

I often send 40’000฿ to my gf and she takes out of the ATM for me for free. The fee for that amount is about 23฿

Open a Wise account and get a Wise ATM card. You can use it for apple, google pay. You can load money onto the card via the app in a few seconds. They only allow two free ATM withdrawals a month, but you still pay the local fee every time. You get the best exchange/fees combination with Wise. I pay my rent with Wise, and once you've set up the payee, it only takes a few seconds to pay them.

You don’t need to open a Wise account. Just link your own Bank account to Wise and pay their bank account for your bank account. Why take the extra steps and get extra fees. Read my original comment it spells out the easiest and cheapest ways to deal with money here.

Pretty sure it is irrelevant if you transfer money INTO wise before sending it out - if you go directly from your bank to theirs the fee will have both steps (you to wise, wise to them) baked in. So it's more time savings and no other difference. Recently it took Wise 3 full business days just to receive the money from my US account, and it was a landlord I'm dealing with for the first time, so I honestly just wish I'd had a bit of change (maybe 3-4k) stored in Wise so it would have gone days faster and i would'nt have had to ask the landlord to allow move in before the transfer completed.

Terence *********
Yeah in that case if need in a rush I get it. I always had a few days or even I’ve had this last one 3 days ago to my new landlord go through immediately, at least Wise confirmed transfer complete that same minute, I have Capital One and she has Bangkok Bank so it could be the bank’s relationship with each other too.

I wasn't sure if this post was a joke or not. Still not 100% 😃. Wise and Revolut. Wise seems to be smoother from Wise to Wise and Wise to thai bank. Revolut seems to get flagged when payments are being made into it. Maybe because Revolut directly trades shares and does crypto.... but not sure

Use wise or a wire transfer for rent.

For day to day stuff you can just take out maximum amount from the ATM and use moreta pay or card to pay.

Ask your landlord if they have any offshore banking or can take usdt. You'd be surprised. And some would welcome usdt.

I do t know how much your trying to save but using western union cost like 6 bucks and maybe lose a couple cents on the exchange rate. Same with using Wise I pay like 6 bucks extra but can transfer from my bank to my landlords bank in Thailand. I get a way better rate with wise tho then most international transfer services

First set up your home county bank account with a bank that charges no foreign transaction fees and has no ATM withdrawal fees. In USA that would be Capital One Bank.

For cash go to Bangkok Bank ATM and withdrawal 25,000 baht at a time. The atm fee is only 150 baht. Bangkok Bank is the best because you don’t have to worry about selecting to decline the Thai bank doing the conversion for you, I miss hit the button at Krungsri one time and that mistake cost me over $30! Bangkok Bank doesn’t ask because they automatically let your bank do the conversion.

To pay rent and security deposit just use Wise. This is typical and companies like Property Scout that help you find your condo will know that you will need to use Wise. You’ll be paying the rent and security deposit directly to the owner.

Don’t over complicate it. You don’t need a ton of cash. You can use Apple Pay almost literally anywhere or for markets cash which will be minimal.

Just make sure whatever card you have linked to Apple Pay does not charge foreign transaction fees. If you have the Apple Card it does not, Capital One does not, check your terms and conditions. Your credit cards exchange rate will pretty much be spot on so don’t worry about it.

Yesterday at 3:41 pm as I was standing at the machine, is the meta data enough proof for you now???!!! Jeez! Go back and read what I wrote and what I suggested to those from USA, Capital One Bank, I specifically said I bank with them and gave more than enough detail that anyone in their right mind wouldn’t waste their time giving if they were lying so non believers like yourself wouldn’t waste everyone’s time questioning but here we are you did anyways. 🤦‍♂️

Yes 150 baht. I live here and I have Capital One and they use the Discover network and Bangkok Bank is the only bank that takes the Discover network. So yes I would know! And the so called yellow bank is Krungsri Bank and yes they let you pull 30,000 baht but it’s a higher atm fee and if you let them do the conversion you’ll lose another $30 or so in Krungsri Bank’s conversion fees if you make the wrong selection. Bangkok Bank automatically lets your bank do the conversion and it is almost spot on to what the XE app conversion rate is. Now do I sound like I know what I am talking about??? Jeez you people on here are ridiculous, you could figure out from the detail I gave in my original comment I know what I’m talking about but you all still… 🤦‍♂️

I go to the counter at Krung Thai bank headquarters with my passport and debit card. I think the limit is 200,000 thb per withdrawal, although I have never needed that much at one time. Wise is what I use to pay rent. Instant payment and the fees are really low.

Don’t waste your time doing what she is saying. Since you’re from USA and apparently plan to live here, then open a Capital One Bank account and just use Bangkok Bank ATMs for withdrawals. See my original comment on here for how to work your money here. And no you cannot open a Thai bank account on a DTV.

PinkApricot4609 thanks. i second this comment. yellow/krungskri bank seem to be the most helpful option for farang. Avoid bangkok/scb however they seem to be more stringent and were even before the money laundering policy shifts and foreign account purges.
Terence *********
Terence *********
The “yellow bank” is Krungsri Bank. And if the atm is limiting your withdrawal that is you bank from your country limiting to 5k not Krungsri. So you would need to talk to your bank about your daily withdrawal limit or whatever else they tell you the reason is.

Yes, wise is common. Relatively low fees/good rates. You should consider paying several months at once. Few landlords like to deal with large amounts of cash and so should you. WU is expensive. By the new rules all remittances to THB are, in principle, taxable if you qualify as tax resident and you will leave a trail whether it's cash, wise, WU or whatever. But there are many caveats to that and that would be a wholly different discussion.
Justin ********

@Stefan *****
this is why you should try to prepay rent the year before, then no tax because you aren't a resident that year (assuming arrival past July 5)
