Hi everyone I am planning to apply for a one year extension of stay. (I'm sorry in advance if I'm wrong in professional terms).

My permission to stay expires on my O A 13/3/2021.

My visa will expire on 9/10/2020.

1) How long in advance can I extend my visa? Will it be from 9/10/20 or from 13/3/21?

2) Is a request for multiple entries made on the same day?

3) In CW, how long in advance are they willing to get the approval from the bank regarding the 800k (? My branch in Bangkok Bank explained to me that they issue the certificate after a few days from the date of application).

I would happy get some advice from the experts.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a one-year extension of stay for their O A visa, which expires on 9/10/2020, while their permission to stay lasts until 13/3/2021. They have questions regarding the timeline for applying for the extension, the process for multiple entries, and the approval time for the required bank certificate. Responses indicate that the extension can be requested up to 45 days before the permission to stay expiration, and some users mention quicker processing times for the bank certificate.

As far as point #3 goes, your branch should be able to do better than that. I get my letter within 45 minutes, a friend with BKK Bank gets his within an hour. Not sure about CW but Samut Prakan requires the letter to be within 24 hours of application.

CW accepts letters issued within the previous seven days, but the passbook still has to be updated on the day of application.

Thanks for the clarification. I use Samut Prakan (and the passbook must be within 24 hours as well), but that is good for the OP to know.

On entry you got a new stamp Admitted until 13 Mar 2021 and you can apply at Immigration to extend this period with 1 year. In CW you can apply between 45 days before and the last day 13 Mar 2021

You seem confused
@Or**
. If you leave and return before your current visa expires on
****
/2020 you would get stamped in for another year but being able to do that is highly unlikely. If you leave and plan to return after
****
/2020 you will need a re-entry permit to keep your existing stamp alive and you will only get stamped in until the same date you are currently. Once your visa is expired on
****
/2020 it's done and can no longer be used

Ok now it's much clearer to me. The chance of leaving and entering before
****
/20 is small because of the situation.

I will probably have to issue a new O-A or change to O🤷‍♂️

@Or**
you don't need to worry about that until March next year and can then get a one year extension of stay off the back of your current visa. You just need to meet the criteria re finances etc which you can get from your immigration office

Thanks John, I'm counting my steps forward as I'll probably have to leave Thailand before March 2021.

@Or**
you normally can only get an extension within 30 days (45 in a few places) of your current permission expiring. Immigration will clarify for you

@Oren *****
not small, but teensy tiny and very expensive.

@Oren *****
or you can just stay, and extend for 1 year before your current permission to stay expires. You don't need to change. If you leave, it's very likely you won't be coming back any time soon whatever visa you have.

Thanks a lot for the answer. If so, can I now purchase multiple entries for the visa that expires on
****
/21?
Robert *******
@Oren *****
Yes, but can not be used at the moment

If I understood correctly, can I already now purchase multiple entries for the visa that will end on
****
/21 and if they open for O-A the visa will be extended in a year from the moment of entry?

The actual visa can be used to enter Thailand until 9 Oct 2020 and after that date it is just a memory in your passport.

Hello Rober. Does it mean that you can have an extension of stay beyond the date included in the 'VALID UNTIL' of your visa? For instance, if the current extension of stay is permitted until the end of September 2020, It is possible to get in CW a 90-day stamp beyond that date (the 'VALID UNTIL' date of the visa). Many thanks

@Dani **************
No, you can not get 90 days stamps.

How it works:

A visa is a sticker to enter Thailan, you apply normally at a Thai Consulate before you leave towards Thailand.

On entry, the Immigration checks your visa and give you a new stamp with text Admitted until .../../...

If you like to stay longer than this date you can apply for an Extension of Stay, but you must meet the requirements. You may apply year after year after year,
