What can I do if my 60-day visa application is still processing right before my trip to Thailand?

We have 60 day visa application requests in with the Embassy in London.

They have been showing as “processing” for a week now and we are due to arrive in Thailand next Saturday.

I have tried phoning their Visa department extension during their opening hours through yesterday afternoon and now this afternoon hoping that they may be able to provide an update and preferably expedite the processing.

After several messages saying that they are trying to connect me, I get one saying either “no-one is available, please try later” or “we are experiencing a technical difficulty, please try later”

In both cases, my call is then cut off.

I have also tried emailing them with our Visa Request Numbers to ask the same thing, as yet no reply though.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I can do to follow this up please?

Thank you.
Summary so far
The user is facing delays in obtaining their 60-day visa from the Thai Embassy in London, just one week before their planned departure. Despite attempts to contact the embassy via phone and email for an update, they receive no response and are concerned about the processing time. Community members have shared similar experiences and suggested that such delays are common, especially with the high volume of applications during peak travel seasons. Some recommend applying 4-6 weeks in advance to avoid last-minute stress.

I’ve always been on the assumption that you should apply 4-6 weeks before departure to ensure you get a completion of your application. You may have cut it a bit fine.A week is nothing. I have also had mine in for 8 days - not heard anything - but I don’t fly for another 7 weeks so hopefully sorted by then.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you, phoned many times emailed many times compleat waste of time.. No response from anyone,, we fly 4th November. Not looking good,,, there are plenty of people that have aplied for a visa after me, and fly after me, but had their visa sorted allredy,, frustrating

If you’re UK citizen you get 30 days exempt and can extend 30 days, you’ll be fine either way

OP
KnowledgeableMoose5909 it does look as though that will be the option we need to take now, but will we have to be able to show that we have a flight out within 30 days to get in on the 30 days exempt initially?

Barry Parsons yes, book an onward flight then cancel it after you get there

Barry Parsons id just buy a ticket on United when you land, you have 24 hours to cancel for free and then you don’t have to worry.

MagicalJackfruit5904 three months bank statements, proof of current address in england (we used a bill but I think you can use driving licence), proof of flights in and out of Thailand within the 60 days and proof of a confirmed hotel booking or place to stay. I think that was all 🤔

Dean Hinder I suggest going over and getting visa exempt gives you 30 days and if you get during that time get a cheap flight out to Cambodia for few days then come back if and when it's approved

You didn't leave much time. They quote 15 working days but it's high season so can take longer

they were quoting 3 to 5 business days when we initially applied. We have only subsequently seen the reference to 15 days unfortunately 🤔

I am unable to look forward to the holiday at all with the stress of our applications!

If I had known how stressful it would be I wouldn’t have booked it at all ☹️

It's extremely frustrating you have no recourse .

They push people back untill they are just about fly and then ask for extra documentation .

Sit tight, quite often issued near your departure time especially as you left it quite late to apply

OP
Steve Greir yes, at least if you could get any sort of update by phone or email you might know what your chances were?

I guess we will try to without getting too stressed.

It was so much easier, when we just booked a slot at the Thai Consulate in Cardiff, turned up at the appointed time and left in less than 30 minutes with the Visa in our Passports.
