Hi! Just wondering if the authorities have started to make it a little bit easier ( less onerous) when applying for a METV? I applied on Monday night, just before midnight, UK time. Previously I seem to remember having to complete lots of boxes/info etc but this time round it really was quite a simple process. I gave my flight details, address, bank statement and proof of address. I said I wanted to stay for 60 days ( following advice online). Nothing else was asked from me. No return flight etc. I paid Β£150.00 and fully expected to be asked for further details. But nothing else was asked. I was actually expecting to just get a SETV. Imagine my surprise/ delight/shock when I received my METV yesterday evening! Absolutely blown away by the service. Can't wait to fly out in 2 weeks time. ππ

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their recent experience applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) to Thailand, noting that the application process felt simpler this time around, requiring minimal information compared to previous applications. They only had to provide flight details, an address, a bank statement, proof of address, and paid a fee of Β£150, receiving the visa within a short timeframe. Comments from other users discussed differences in embassy requirements, quick processing times at the Thai embassy in London, and clarifications about the validity and usage of the METV.
when you apply for the METV, you don't actually expect them to have such a fast turnaround. Because the 6-months visa validity begins on the day the visa gets issued. So no wonder the embassy will attempt to issue the METV as close as possible to your flight date, so you don't lose too many days of the 6 months visa validity

Why would you get a METV when staying 60 days itβs free if you just show up now if you want to stretch your stay out 6-9 months I can see it
I can extend for a further 30 days before I have to leave the country. I'm going to China for a week, just before the first 90 days are up. Thank you for your comment though. Always good to be reminded.
I have only been once this year, but for 6 months last year. Also, this was with a new passport. I thought that might've made a difference but clearly not !
I know. I'm fully aware of that. I just thought that the process might have taken longer. But I'm well aware of how the system works. I was merely commenting on and praising the speed with which my application had been processed.

As you have done very recently can I ask do you have 3 months to initiate it or does it commence from date of issue.
The single entry gives 3 months to initiate I believe.
3 months, that's wrong . . . . with the METV, the 6-months visa validity, i.e. the period you can use it for an entry, begins at the date of issue. Every Thai embassy worldwide should be eager to issue an METV as close as possible to the flight date, so the applicant doesn't lose too many days of the visa validity
The single entry gives you 60 days upon entry within three months. The multiple entries gives you 60 days each time you enter within 6 months. Both from the date of issue.
you haven't lost any of the visa, you get 3 months to use it. When you arrive anytime within those 3 months you'll get stamped in for the visa duration

The Thai embassy in London is known for having one of the fastest turnaround times, with a processing time of just 2-3 days. They're also quite lenient. Similarly, in Norway, it's sometimes possible to get an e-visa issued in just one day.

Each embassy sets their own requirements. Some request more information than others.
