What was your positive experience with applying for a DTV workation visa in Thailand?

So many strange experiences are posted here. I would like to share my positive experience:

Came in on 9th August together with my daughter.

The immigration lady was very kind. I had an LTR before on my ex husbands visa. Since he retired and left, I do need my own visa and for my daughter as well.

Btw: applied for a DTV workation (process was very smooth and quick).

The lady just asked: is your husband not working anymore in Thailand. I said: "no, he is retired". No further questions - just the stamp for me and my 16 year old daughter! Great experience!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their positive experience applying for a DTV (Digital Workation Visa) in Thailand. After arriving on August 9, they noted the kindness of the immigration officer and reported a smooth process in securing their visa. The only question asked was about their husband’s employment status, which led to an easy approval for both the user and their daughter.

Aside from some Burmese DTV holders, pretty much everyone else has no issue with entering and exiting whatsoever. It's almost guaranteed unlike if you're on a visa exemption or tourist visa. The DTV is a good visa to have, except for the difficulties with banking (which will hopefully change once the current crackdowns come to an end).

I am really happy that more people share their positive experience.

99 pct of the posts here are about how to manipulate the system as if Thai authorities are not reading the same posts.

By end 2026 we risk to have 20.000 foreign thai boxers and 10.000 thai cuisine cooks ..

I don't think 99% of posts are about manipulating the system. Many posts similar to the OP.

Nayve not 99 percent, but certainly a majority is about manipulating the system. The questions about gyms are not which is the best, but which is cheapest and had highest DTV approval rate Then it is very clear that they manipulate the system, it is not about Muay Thai, but just to get a visa, and most of them try to get a course as short as possible to get the visa, but plan to use the visa for 5 years, and then act like that is the normal way to go.

Yeah, there are some who are using the system to get a visa. That applies to all the visas Thailand offers hence the recent visa changes including stricter DTV approval for SP. Very unlikely someone can stay 5 years on a completed 6 mth course undetected.

and how is using the DTV 'Soft Power' the way it was intended, through Muay Thai or Thai Cooking schools, a 'risk'?

do you really believe people who learn Thai Cooking or Muay Thai are doing it to become professional chefs or One Championship pro fighters? Come on. Most are doing it for fun, and for the visa.

@Nick *****
Your last remark is correct, most are doing it for the visa and that is NOT how it is intended, the visa is there to facilitate the possibility to train Muay Thai, and not the other way around. Compare this to non-o marriage which is there to give spouses of Thai citizens the possibility to live in Thailand, but it is certainly not meant to attract foreigners to marry a Thai to get a visa...

well, once again, allow me to disagree. We already discussed this in a previous post and our opinion simply diverge on the matter. That's okay, different opinions usually make the discussion more interesting anyway.

Of course you have the right to live in your own world where everything is the other way around. No country in the world creates a visa that makes people doing tricks to get that visa. A visa is created to facilitate a group of people they want to have in their country, and what you see here is people not belonging to the target group, just are trying to comply with the requirements to get the visa. Some of them just ask if they really have to attend a course, and you still think that is how it is intended?

so you seriously believe Thailand is currently in a position to 'dictate' its attractiveness to foreign investors and tourists? They are just trying to find ways to attract more source of incomes and investments, as other SEA countries do, and the DTV is just one of their 'tricks'. You're free to 'live in your own world' as well, but no need to always try to pretend that you own the one big truth all the time.

@Nick *****
You are so funny, you just seem to believe this yourself!.

Of course DTV is meant to attract visotors, but not the type that only gets a cheap training for a few months and then just abuse the visa, they are of no value to them.

And allthoug I might live in my own world according to you, at least Google AI is also in my world and does not share your opinion.

"It's essentially a conditional authorization, often placed in a passport, that allows a foreigner to legally enter and potentially reside in a country for a particular purpose"

For a particular purpose, also not a "trick" like you suggest just to get in everybody.

When your idea really was true, why would they have requirements then?
Nick ******
@Luit ****************
I'm glad you think like an AI then, and I'm relieved I don't.
Luit *****************
@Nick *****
I not think like AI, but explaining that to you might be useless.

Just go on the way you do, you missed a job as stand-up comedian!
