Dear Community,

Does anyone know if a new calendar year is handled like a restart? Like, you can (officialy) do 2 border runs per calendar year. Means, even if you did 2 border runs in late '24, you could do another 2 in the beginning of '25?

Thank you!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The previous rule limiting visa-exempt entries by land to two per calendar year has been abolished since the entry stamp duration was extended to 60 days. Now, there is no formal limit on border runs, but the decision to grant entry is at the discretion of immigration officers, who may deny entry if they suspect misuse of the visa-exempt policy. For smoother border crossings, using a dedicated border service is recommended.

Does anyone recommend a service company from Nong Khai?

Nong Khai is hands down the easiest land border crossing to use and you don't need a service to bounce out and back there.

The rule that limited free entry (visa exempt) by land to two per calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31) was stopped when they increased the free entry (visa exempt) stamps from 30 days to 60 days on July 15th..

While that technically means there is no limit on the number of free visa exempt entries you can get in a calendar year by land

What it means in reality is; you are now at the mercy of the officer you're standing in front of to stamp in as far as if they feel you're taking advantage of the free entry program or not and if they feel they should let you in ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Whereas before you pretty much knew you were good for two free stamp entries by land without much hassle at all at any land border in a year, and that come Jan 1 it reset and you were good for 2 more,

NOW

it's just like free stamp air entries (which technically have no limit to them). The stamping officer decides.

This is why we tell people who want to bounce by land to USE A SERVICE to get you out/back in without issue <- most border bounce service providers have the "wheels greased" at the border they take you to and that is what lets you out/back in without issue

thank you so much for your reply. And I can extend my 2 months tourist visa once, right? I received it on Sept 19th and it expires Nov 17th.

, right only one tourism extension per entry stamp on tourist visa or visa-exempt.
