I am applying for a non OA visa in London, retirement, sonthat we can then get a non O for my husband under 50.
Does the insurance have to be valid at application or can it be post dated to date of entry to thailand.
Thanks for any advice
Answer summary
The conversation revolves around the requirements for applying for a Non-OA visa in Thailand, particularly concerning the insurance policy needed for the application. Several comments indicate that while the insurance needs to be valid, there is flexibility in its start date. Users suggest that purchasing insurance to begin on the date of entry is generally acceptable, provided it meets the embassy's compliance standards. It's emphasized that the insurance must cover the duration of the stay to avoid any delays or issues upon entry into Thailand.

Buy it to be valid from your intended date of entry. I highly recommend purchasing Thai insurance that comes with the certificate to show it complies with the requirements of the visa. The embassy can verify this with your application which prevents any unnecessary delays
John Ketchup No I'm referring to the non OA visa on grounds of retirement, allows 12 months per entry during validiry of gisa , as long as insurance in place
I'm not sure about that as the visa is valid from the day it is issued so there's nothing to stop you entering that day. The entry date is just some date you propose with nothing restricting you to that date
Robert McGregor It is normally fine for the insurance period to be shorter than the visa validity. The insurance expiry date is stated on the Non-O-A visa, and you will not be admitted without presenting the insurance policy anyway.
