Does the 15000 USD need to be in my primary bank account? I have a HYSA that has always met that standard, it’s where I keep most of my hard cash.

I don’t think it should make a difference but want to get clarification.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The $15,000 requirement for Thai visa applications does not necessarily need to be in your primary bank account. It is important that the funds are readily accessible without notice. A High Yield Savings Account (HYSA) should be acceptable if the money is instantly accessible. The specific account type may not matter as long as the funds meet the necessary accessibility criteria, but it's best to confirm with the consulate handling your visa application.

I do not see how they would know whether it’s your primary account or not, and I don’t think it would matter if it wasn’t

If the money is instantly accessible (no notice required) it should be OK, but really a question for the consulate you will use

yes instantly accessible with a reputable bank in American Express.. planning to use HCMC since I’m not planning on returning to the US anytime soon.

No idea how a HYSA works, but fixed-term deposits are not eligible.

I knew what it stands for, but had no idea if funds deposited are accessible at any time.

yes they’re instant access. It’s just a standard American Express HYSA.
