TLDR : Answer Summary
The choice of bank for proving the 500,000 Baht requirement for a visa application in Thailand does not seem to be critical, as long as it is a recognized bank and not a non-traditional or cryptocurrency bank. Discussions imply that banks in Thailand, such as Bangkok Bank, are generally accepted. Users mention that having the funds in your home country may be preferable if applying from a neighboring country like Vietnam or Cambodia, where some embassies may favor USD for clarity. However, many applicants have successfully used accounts in different currencies, like Thai Baht or GBP, without issues, as explanations can be provided for the currency choice during the application process.
How about bank in Thailand will they accept Bangkok bank ?

Doesn't matter as long as it's a normal bank. Even some fintech accounts have been used.

They prefer the currency to be in usd if YOU ARE APPLYING AT NEIGHBOR COUNTRIES SUCH AS VIETNAM CAMBODIA INDONESIA ETC and the your country does not have a thai embassy. Imagine you are from bolivia and apply at hanoi they will prefer this statement in usd as this was reported by others in this forum. But again you can always explain as of why the account is in a different currency on your cover letter and due to your specific financial profile. Hope this helps 🙏
FirstNameLastName poor Guillermo gets a little crazy.

FirstNameLastName ok brother send them THAI BATH next time they really seem to like money coming from thailand. Also i think lately they love to take north korean won. seriously im not making this up 🤣
No problem at all showing 500k Baht in a Thai Bank account. I have a few pals who did this. Two of them got the visas last July in London just after DTV implemented.
still would not touch any bath if i was an applicant with dtv. The moment you mention thailand the moment they wil ask why how when etc. they will ask documents JUST TO MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE ANY ACTIVITIES IN THAILAND that will automatically disqualify you for the visa like thai clients and income directly linked to thailand. Why would someone have a thai bank account if they want to be considered a tourist in thailand. This is a tourist visa after all so i always advise to keep the story simple. They will suspect you want to do visa product change which i dont think you can do. This is what worked for me and what i have seen on similar scenarios with recent approvals 🙏
im excited you know a beach on samui. 👏🏼 👏🏼 If you could afford it, you could live on Samui. But it’s a little outta your league. For me, it’s just one of the 3 countries I have residencies in.
Got any more selfies for us?
Obviously the neighbouring nations could care less if your funds are in USD.
here is a restaurant under the water todd. Do you even know they have those in the maldives . I suggest you visit them you should be able to afford them after all you live in samui right 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I do know them well. Thx for the pic 😂😂😂 great pic of you in a restaurant you can’t afford to eat at. And maybe a little more time in the gym though mate. Holy. Don’t be so desperate for attention. It’s a bit pathetic.
so i went all the way there than i did no have the money to eat todd 🤣🤣🤣 . This was 4 years ago i have managed to loose some weight. No need attention actually . I jjust have a kick out of your comments and respond 😂😂
i based my answer on recent approval rejections. I watch this forum close and unless you are applying at your home country where there is a thai embassy you are asked to provide banks statements i would go with usd . So imagine you are australian and you are applying in Hanoi “THEY WILL PREFER THE SOURCE ACCOUNT TO BE IN USD “ . Last July is a long time so i would not count to be the case as of now. I travel for a living and have always been ok showing numbers is usd not because im american but just because its the standard 🙏
that’s becasue he’s applied in Washington in the USA it’s their currency, if you apply in the UK they would want to see GBP🤦♂️

FirstNameLastName thats one way to look at it yes. I also remember a person that was applying in cambodia i think he was from the middle east and they specifically told them they need it to see the equivalent to thai bath or usd . Why would i make this up
Guillermo *********
FirstNameLastName this i include in the response as well maybe you did not read that part “ you can always explain as of why is not in usd “. But they would prefer the US dollar as of why they would prefer the documents in english also. I dont make the rules bro i just follow them 🙏
are you just making this up? All but one of the currency’s I mentioned would with an English document

FirstNameLastName ok brother you win you are right i was wrong the entire time. I will keep you in mind next time i have concerns as of what currency i should use in a bank statement when applying for a visa. I think the term is “world reserve currency” going to ask chapgpt. Wait he agrees with me not because he is american but because this is how the world sees it . Good luck to you my friend you will need it 🙏
stop making up total nonsense. They do not prefer USD. If I showed USD when I applied in London it would probably create a problem for me as it would raise questions in their minds. This group is supposed to help people not confuse them! 🙄🤷🏻♂️
you applied in london and assuming you are british than of course you wont need to show usd that will be totally nonsense. The majority of the applicants apply in neighbor countries such as indonesia and vietnam cambodia laos etc. FOR THOSE they will prefer usd accounts. Prefer does not mean “MUST” read my comment im really in detail there 🙏
firstly your original comment has no qualification - it is a broad sweeping comment which is not true. Secondly you don't know where there OP is applying because they do not say - so you are making an assumption as well as not qualifying. Now you are saying 'the majority apply in neighbour countries' to try and justify your non qualified statement. You are making that up too as there is no data to show that. Either way it is still nonsense - if I had applied in a neighbouring country I would still show in GBP and I WOULD NOT have to explain why it is not in USD. It's ok to admit you made a mistake with your statement - you will feel better for it.
I did not make a mistake. Read the whole message “YOU CAN ALWAYS EXPLAIN AS OF WHY YOUR ACCOUNT IS IN A DIFFERENT CURRENCY” But its ok brother the sky is red . All the best for you nick 🙏

you're really funny! you said 'they prefer USD' without any qualification about neighbouring countries or anything else you have since tried to defend it with. If you cannot see what is misleading about that then I cannot help you and you certainly shouldn't be trying to help other people. have a great day
ok maybe you are right i will fix the message as again could be seen as i put it for every applicant i give you that. But again i based that on recent applications🙏

There you go . Again im trying to help and the most people here apply at neighbor countries. Imagine you are from bolivia i dont think there are any thai embassies there. If you apply in hanoi they WILL PREFER to see the account in usd . Prefer does not mean MUST 🙏
for clarity, they absolutely don’t care if your currency is in the steadily declining USD. Only a tiny percentage of applicants in neighbouring nations would even have (or want) a USD account. It’s irrelevant
thanks for the info todd. I could care less about the usd. I actually make more money when the dollar goes down due to the nature of my business. But they do care at neighbour countries . But maybe next time they should have CANADIAN DOLLARS “eh" 🤣☝️
ur welcome. Here to help. And as clearly stated, they absolutely DON’T Care. At all. Not sure where you confusion and ignorance is coming. Good for a laugh though
imagine you are from paraguay they dont have thai embassies there . i dont think you know this but let me teach you something today their money is “guarani” and your statement come in guaranis they would like to see this in usd. Would like not a MUST . I suggested people to do that as it was reported by others. This is all todd not too complicated

Don't think so. Ss long as it is cash and not a brokerage account where you would have to sell stocks, etc you should be good.
