As a US veteran do me and my wife need 16,000 each in a separate account for 3 month before we apply for DTV?
Answer summary
Yes, as U.S. veterans applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, both you and your wife will need to show evidence of having around $15,000 to $17,000 (equivalent to 500,000 THB) in a separate account for three months prior to your application. This requirement varies slightly depending on the embassy process. It is also advised to check the specific Thai Embassy or Consulate's website applicable to your location for the most accurate and updated requirements regarding your application.

What does being a veteran outside of Thailand have to do with visa requirements of a foreign nation ? 😂

Anonymous participant 621 It often indicates the veteran has a verifiable income from their military service pension/retirement.

DTV_Pag_Backer sure, but you still need 500k 3 months prior (depending on embassy) for a DTV. That’s standard.

Be sure to check the website for the Thai Embassy or Consulate which is responsible for the processing of your DTV Visa Applications. As the $$ amount required has varied between US $15,000 and $17,000.

Which State in the USA 🇺🇸 do you live ?

you cannot go to the Thai Embassy in Washington DC 🇺🇲.

They don't accept in person applications. You must use the Evisa online application system to submit your DTV Visa Application.

the Thai Embassy will refer you to their website for information about the Thai visas for you.

Suggest you continue to follow this FB forum AND others which are helpful with questions about Thailand visas.

save yourself the trip, they probably won't let you in anyway. Being a vet makes no difference although you can use your disability to show you can support yourself.

You can get that information on the Thai embassy website. It is all spelled out pretty simply. What each visa category is for and the qualifications for each. If anything, you probably be better off talking to a visa agent about your options than the embassy.

The official Thailand electronic visa (e-Visa) system is available at thaievisa.go.th. Since January 1, 2025, this platform acts as the central hub for worldwide applications, allowing visitors to apply online without visiting an embassy. The system is used for tourism, business, and other visa types, offering a paperless, digital process for travelers.
