Hi, Thank you for adding us to a group. 

My wife and I are both over 50 yrs old. We plan to apply for a Thai retirement visa. Do we need to apply for the visa separately? or can we apply as a couple with one application with a Thai bank deposit of 16000000 bath (800000bath x 2) for both of us? Thank you in advance

whether you can or can't use a joint account to get the extension based on retirement after you're here is totally up to the immigration office you deal with, SOME will let you use a joint account with double the money in it (1.6 mill) but some will not, SO I'd say once you get here GO to your immigration office and talk to them.
