First time going to Thailand with an Italian passport. Do i understand correctly that i won't need any visa or other documents (I have a covid vaccine) for entry? I am planning to stay one month, then leave for another month (to vietnam or Cambodia, possibly by land), then come back for 1-2 months.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Italian passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office. However, travelers should be prepared to present proof of onward travel and may be asked to show that they have sufficient funds amounting to 40,000 Baht in cash upon entry. It's advisable to ensure all requirements are met to avoid any issues with airlines or Thai immigration.

Just jumping on the tail of this, landing late July for 3 weeks with the Mrs and child from the UK, we have a return flight booked with the same airline taking us in, my question is do I have to have any cash on arrival for any criteria immigration may ask or is proof on banking app adequate for any questioning they may ask?

just bring 1k in sterling that will cover you.

You are going to need cash until you get to your destination

ie taxi, food

Be aware that the airline flying you to Thailand may refuse to let you fly if you don't have proof of onward travel out of Thailand within 30 days. Thai immigration might also ask to see proof of the equivalent of 40,000 Baht in cash before you can enter (and there is no ATM airside). Best advice is to have both covered because you could be challenged.

Italian passport holders are given a visa exempt entry if they have no visa. Stamped for 30 days on arrival and you can extend that once for 30 days at a local immigration office.

I see no issues with your travel plans. Land border entries for visa exempt are limited to 2 per calendar year.

thank you so much! i know this group is about thailand specifically but you would you happen to know if it's the same for cambodia and vietnam? Just stamp on entry without visa? I heard vietnam is very strict with limiting visits these days.
