Inbound and outbound tickets to Thailand do not have to be booked at the same time; they can be on separate itineraries. As long as you have an exit ticket from Thailand, it does not matter if the tickets are from different airlines or booked separately.

Good question, the price tends to be higher around this time of year so I've been looking at booking two separate tickets which works out about £20 more expensive but shorter flight times. There no issue with having different bookings
