TLDR : Answer Summary
An RT-PCR test is not the same as a regular PCR test; it specifically refers to Reverse Transcriptase - PCR testing, which is one of several types of PCR tests required for entry into Thailand.

Spoke with a friend today who entered Thailand 2 weeks ago with a PCR test,no RT in the front. No problem. So I spoke with a testing lab in Cambridge, they said they are the same. Now awaiting for hard copy confirmation from them.

Very confusing.
